I have a 05 that just put in some dynomite diesel 120s in. When I had it a part I was goin to lash the valve, because it has 100k on it so I go to spin the motor and it hits the #3 exhaust and bends the push rod. Well when it cranks it blowin exhaust back though the intake I knew it was A valve problem so replace the rod made sure it was seated good and readjusted it. Now it sounds like it has a small hit that is comin out of the airbox. It runs great and does not miss but has a lot of injector rattle and that hit in the intake. It was cranked for about 30 seconds, but since I fixed it I drove about 400 miles runs great. The noise worries me. It also has a ppe standard, presure box.

what kinda sound is it making i have been getting a ticking out of my motor for a while and i had found a rocker with major lash when i adjusted the rockers and they weren't out at all i'm leaning more and more to the cam being bad.

 

It probly bent the valve when it hit the piston, and now it is not sealing properley.

So is this "little nasty"

 

This is little nasty for now but it is changing. It hit the piston when I went to bump it over it was not running , dont you think if it bent a ex valve the sound would be comin out of the exhaust. It sounds like a thumpin but if you take off the intercooler tube and put your hand over it to restricked the air the sound stops.

 

Sounds exactly like mine did. Same basic thing happened. Finally took it apart and the valve was slightly bend and hammering away at the seat. The piston was also cracked. I would say the head needs pulled while you only have minor problems to fix. It would be a shame to end up having to pull the whole motor.

 

Follow omaharam's advice. It just gets more expensive as you continue to drive.
