Injector help, please
Injector help, please
I am going to have to dip into my kids college fund(for real) but I have to get the injectors fixed on my truck before I need a new engine. Does anyone know if you can get stock tips for cheap? If not I am looking at getting some fluxes shipped from Source Automotive. They only have flux 3's (150hp) they are way bigger than what I was thinking but Source says they will run great with my setup. Any opinions on what would be the right size or biggest size I could run? I would like to get twins someday but that's not going to happen unless I can find a good job soon. I also have gotten rid of everything I owned that could be towed so I won't be towing anytime soon. Thanks, Tom J.
So it was the tips cracked? I mean if it were just one tip bad or something like that it seems to me like DDP could get you one tip under the circumstances.
Now on the flux 3's, I think you'll find they will behave a lot like what you are running now. They will run fine with your setup.

Thanks Soulezoo, I have made a calculated guess that I have one or more cracked injectors. I have had this problem for many months and I still have no diesel in my oil and idle seems OK maybe a touch rough. Some white smoke on startup that lingers for a while and I can make black smoke that doesn't clear up at WOT with everything set back to stock. So I think the injector bodies are OK and I have just cracked some tips. Ideally I wanted to send in the whole injector to Don M. and have them gone over but I need to resolve this issue in the next week or so before I travel to a wedding with the truck. So I am taking a gamble that replacing the tips will fix the problem until I can do it right. Thanks, Tom J.
Check around at some of the other F1 dealers. From what I understand they may have the common sizes in stock & you can just do a exchange. They'll send you the new ones & you send back your old ones.
I would look for a local shop with a flow bench. There is one 4 hrs from me in clearfield. I set it up that I would get there in the a.m. and they would flow them, tell me what they recommend replacing, balance them and head home with a working set. Most injector issues are with the bodies not the tips. I wouldn't spend $800 on a whim.
