If my EGTs are low, is there anything else to worry about??

If my EGTs are low, is there anything else to worry about??

I towed about 11,000lb the other day with the EZ on level 5. The truck pulled great and my EGTs stayed around 8-900 degrees most of the time and while going up a long hill while accellerating to see how high it would get, the most I saw was 1000 degrees. My question is, is there anything else I should be worried about other than EGTs? The truck pulled this so easily I want to keep the EZ on 5 but if I'm going to screw something else up I will adjust accordingly. My air intake is free flowing and I've got the exhaust completely 4" turbo back. The only thing I can think of would be high fuel rail pressures but at 65 mph I was cruising at around 1800rpms so that shouldn't even be a problem...

Hmmmm???????

The truck pulled this so easily and I'm just at 310hp and 575tq. I can just imagine how you really high powered guys feel!!

I think the intake and exhaust mods is keeping the EGTs lower. That's what you want.

Is your t-couple pre or post turbo?

Fuel rail pressure is completely independant of RPM.
You can have high rail pressure at idle, and often, with a chip, you will.

You will actually have less rail pressure at WOT, and max RPM, becuase the pump can't keep the rail fully pressurizes. Just watch the guys with a TST box, and see how they can't get more power over level 7 or so.

My probe is pre turbo. I know Edge doesn't advertise level 5 because of high rail pressures. Maybe I should go back to level 4. I haven't seen anything about problems on level 5 but on level 6 I've read about leaking o-rings from too high of pressure.....

I'm wondering if something is up with your gauge. I've got basically the same set up just without the complete 4 inch exhaust and I can get mine to reach 1500 going up a long grade at WOT and that is without a trailer! On level 3 I can run it about as hard as I want to and stay in the safe zone. Maybe your box isn't quite as potent as some of them are. Mine really pours out the smoke on level 5.
And then again, you might just have a "cool" truck....

Those temps seem awful low , hope your EGT gauge isn't bad . Buddy has an EZ and that thing on 5 will crank out the temps big time !! Watch it with that level 5 it can really tax that truck .

Hawkeye, mine barely smokes no matter what I do. The guage is new and it seems in line with what lots of other guys here are seeing. I've seen lots of other guys with high temps too so hopefully I do indeed just have a "cool" truck. Remember, mine is an SO and it seems that the SOs run cooler than the HOs. I think I will move the box to a lower level next time I tow just to be sure..

Thanks for the replies....

Dodgezilla, I see you have the tranny fully modded but do you have a tranny temp gauge. My truck runs cool also but the tranny doesn't always. Just a thought as even a great transmission can still get hot. K.S.

No trans guage yet abc. I had one on my last truck and it never got above 180 degrees, even when towing....

Hey Zilla! I think maybe your gauge is off. Remember when you let me "borrow" your EZ and my EGT's rocketed! I have the Bully Dog Downloader now and can't get them past 1150. But they really shot up with the EZ! We can swap out again to try it?!

I'm starting to worry about low fuel pressure. A FASS will soon be on the way, but had to order a Southbend clutch first. Tranny is already slipping.
