You've got 4" exhaust. My pipe I had my exhaust shop owning buddy get for me, it was $65 or so installed.

06dodgedrw,

Some folks complain about drone with no muffler, consider the MBRP or AFE replacement mufflers that bolt right on in place of the stock muffler. No drone and sounds good too. Costs a little more but you know what they say!

I have friends with PSD and duramax with no mufflers and I love the sound. If there is a little drone ill just turn the radio up. Thanks for the advice and I will keep them in mind just in case i get tired of it.

$65? $90? They must have seen you coming. Just go to a truck supply store (big truck) and buy a piece of tubing or flex pipe (usually around $4 or $5 per foot). and 2 clamps (around $10 each). Still scratching my head on why people spend over $300 for a set of 6" or smaller stacks.

I too have a buddy with an 04 PSD with no muffler and its quiet compared to how my truck sounded with no muffler. There is a big difference btw the Cummins and PSD when it comes to harmonics - keep that in mind!

I paid about $50 including labor and had a 4' piece of pipe welded in where the muffler was. Definetly go to a local truck shop and buy a 4' piece of pipe. Sometimes they have a scratched or dented piece for cheaper.

Like everyone else, we all could make up our minds faster if we just could hear the exhaust we want! That is the only reason why I haven't went with a straight pipe... Afraid it will be too loud.

Took mine to a "friend of a friend" at a muffler shop and he cut the muffler but left the "resonator" (whatever that is???). I love the sound of mine. Deep and throaty without waking the neighbors up. Just my 2 cents....P.S. Bring cash...

What is a resonator?

I am going to do the muffler eliminaton as soon as I can get around to it. Does anyone know if a 2004 (not 04.5) has the 4 inch, I thought I read somewhere that the older models had a 3 1/2 inch exhaust?? I may get the ME kit from Geno's, but If I have to cut and weld the exhaust anyway, I may just go to a truck dealer and get some 4", and have a muffler shop do it for me. Can't the stock pipe clamps and hangers be used instead of all this cutting I hear about? Lastly, what is this resonator thing??

Adding an exhaust tip that sticks out a little bit past the bed will help with drone!
