I thought 2004.5 fuel pumps are on the filter?

I thought people were sdaying all 2004.5 fuel pumps were on the filter housing. Well today for the first time I took the time to start my truck with the door open. I then turned key forward and heard a buzzing coming from the fuel tank area (electric pump on tank i guess). would this be what the buzzing was? or do i have 1 on the filter housing because i didnt hear anything there? also what is better the tank mount or the filter mounted factory pump?

The tank pump is better because it is easier to push than suck. the Canister pump is easier to upgrade because you do not have to drop the tank.

Just look at the filter housing. It will be a black fuel pump-looking thing.

All you have to do is look on the back side of the filter housing and see if there is a black cylinder. There should be on an 04.5.

how big roughly? I dont recall seeing anything there. when i turn key forward wouldnt it make noise there? It makes noise somewhere by the fuel tank. Also I had boughten the truck used so. someone have a pic of their filter housing with or without pump?

The previous owner had the stock filter mounted pump removed and replaced with an in-tank lift pump.

If it's mounted on the frame or installed in-line some where it's after market.

There is no after market in-tank lift pump so if you don't see any lift pump any where it's a factory retrofit in-tank lift pump.
