I got beat by my buddy!!

To make a long story short, my buddy has a 06 Duramax and we happened to meet up at a red light. So we hammered it, he won. After a little investigating, I found out that he has the Edge chip. I am really considering the Smarty, but I need something that will not hurt my truck under normal use. Plus some fuel economy would be nice also. So what do you guys think, so I go with the JR or the original? I really don't care that he beat he but next time I want him to get nervous. I also tow with my truck alot. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Don't feel bad dmaxs will haul the mail..him being chipped and you have nothing of course he will win, they are lighter and rev faster than us. That being said I think I would go with smarty. How you drive it has alot to do with what you tear up. Just run it on a low level for daily driving and turn it up when u want to play, better to have the power and not need it, then to need it and not have it

So you think just go with the standard smarty and play with all 10 settings? I really don't think I need all of those, but I would suppose they would be nice to have.

As far as ease of use I've been happy with the Edge Juice w/ Attitude monitor. I was wanting something more/different, though, so I added the Smarty. It's very nice, and I'll be building with it and getting rid of the Edge. What I don't like about the Smarty, though, is that the Smarty POD (adjustable on the fly) is kind of obtrusive. The Smarty unit is big and bulky and kind of in the way. I like the fact that the Edge JA mounts out of the way and is small (and functional with turbo timer and all the gauges built in). For what you're wanting to do you might think about an adjustable "on the fly" type box. Just my .02

I have thought about that, but I did install analog guages onto my truck. It is just that from what I have read and hear the smarty is the way to go. I just want so more power, but not hurt my truck. I know it is all on how you drive them and what is realistic of the truck.

Even with a Smarty you're probably not going to outrun a chipped Dmax w/automatic.

Race him starting from 40-50mph and it might be a little closer.

Amen to that! They are fast.... no doubt. I can tell you that an LB7 J/A only will beat an 05 CTD auto J/A, full 5", CAI every time from every scenario.

Are you sure you want to go down this path?? You have avoided the bug this long. I only made it 700mi on my new truck before the bug got me

If you get a anything get a module thats not adjustable. It takes a considerable amount of will power to keep the levels down if you know there is more to be had. It took all I had to leave my smarty on SW3 at the track. And I agree with the others...in a race with two equally modded trucks the duramax will leave a cummins every time.

get the smarty w/ PoD, you won't regret it. it gives you the ability detune your truck for milage or crank it up to kill in a heartbeat.

If you start playing on the higher levels of the Smarty, be prepared to buy a clutch. It doesn't take long. Especially with the G56 (if that's what you have)

save yourself the heart ache of going from one chip to another till you end up with a smarty and just get one. I got the Jr. for my 07' and I beat hang with guys running the other companies big boys. I had a Sr. on my 05 and drove around 0n #3. If you know your gonna see durawack load up #5 and get the hole shot or since you have a 6 spd scratch that...#5 for putting around and #7 or #9 and blow him away...You wanted an new clutch anyway right:-)
