Well, the way I look at it is this: if your driving experience depends on the automatic, then the extra price tag for upgrading the transmission won't be a big deal. Sure the Std transmission itself is a tank, but the clutch is weak and not cheep either -- just a lot less expensive than updating the transmission . Thats just my observations over the last couple of years in the 2nd gen world: folks who really liked the automatic resigned themselves to a $3000-5000 upgrade. folks who had the NV5600 knew that a $1500 south bend clutch was in their future.

doug, i was just venting. I'm happy to have the automatic shift for me on such a big truck, and understood it would be an additional cost in both regards. Most likely I'll drive it as it is or with not much power added till the stock trans starts to fail. Then replace with a nice DTT or ATS type trans, and mod away

yea, understood, lightman.

and tomeygun, thanks for keeping us informed. you know guys, this sort of thing doesn't surprise me in the least, and doesn't dampen my interest in TST. Birth pains are just part of the process of going from R&D to small production runs to large volume production. Good going TST, keep up the effort.

I just like the idea of not running 28,000+ psi through the fuel rail. That still does not sound right.

agreed: especially since ~29000 is the destructive pop-off safety limit, which itself has variability in its actual pop-off pressure. When you approach that limit, you gotta know you're borrowing from tomorrow

I could prehaps see a small percentage in pressure, but these 100+ pressure boxes out there scare me. But as AK said once, I'm a techno freak and tend to over analyze...

What is stock fuel rail pressure and what does TST make for fuel rail pressure?

stock is 26,000 psi. TST does not alter that. The higher fueling levels of the TST actually causes a small drop in fuel pressure from what I'm reading.

What I want to learn more about is stock fuel pressures running on the '600.

I just got an e-mail from a rep at Banks, asked him the same question. He says stock is about 23,000 and their 6-gun system runs 26,000 except on level 6 its at about 28,000.

Right - stock pressure is 23,520psi (1600BAR). The relief valve blows it's cork at 29,400psi. They're cutting it close... running at 95% of absolute maximum pressure.

I'm betting we start hearing of some blown fuel rails from extended use of this box.
