How often do you check your oil?

Just wondering if I'm one of the crazy ones... Seems like I check it almost every day. Gives me a chance to look around the engine compartment for any issues. Plus with all the injector problems I read about I'm paranoid.

Since I have injector issues and probably wounded engine. I check mine at least once a week. Look for increase/decrease level, look for diesel in oil, etc.

I'm pretty bad about it. I usually check mine after I change it, if I even remember to do it then

I check at every fill, about once a week.

Of course, everyone must think I'm when they see me sniffing the dipstick every time to check for fuel contamination.

Lately I have been checkin it at LEAST once a week but I have had an oil leak until this weekend. I just checked it about 5 min ago as I will load up my new smarty this afternoon and I wanted to make sure it was still full and sniff it for diesel. I will likely still check it every week just for diesel in oil. And like you said I like to take a look around the engine compartment to make sure everything is in order.

checking the injectors is as simple as checking for fuel in the oil, and checking the level. if the level goes up signifigantly, you have an injector(or more) spraying too much fuel(either stuck open, or cracked and leaking). this will wash down the cylinder walls, past the rings, and overfill the crankcase.

If your oil smells like raw fuel you likely have an injector issue.

On average once a week. But I'm driving 550 to 600 miles a week. And of course, every day while towing; which is every 2 to 3 weekends

I usually only check mine about once a month. Of course I only need to fuel about once a month also. 15 months old and only 10K miles

Once a day, if the truck is in use it gets checked, same as all my heavy yellow equipment. My motto to employees; is you blow it up you just bought it! Under my LPS Saftey program its manatory, lights, tires, fluids, grease, alarms and horns. Every day a checklist is completed. Its all about prevention!
