We had a major storm out here last week and some farmers truck got severe hail damage and I think it got blown off the road and messed the suspension up. I think it has only 12,000 miles on it. The insurance is going to total it and the guy wants like $13,500.00 for the truck. I am thinking about buying it and either fixing it up or parting it out. I am getting my info third hand so there could be alot more to this story. However I still would like to know that if the engine and tranny are still good what would they be worth?

I don't even know color, size, or trans and can't even be sure it's a 2006. So any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom J.

 

Actually if you parted it out you could get most of your money back. The axles, transfer case, steering components, seats, headlights and tail lights etc. etc. I remember seeing something a few years ago that said a car (toyota) worth $2,000 running was worth $10,000 parted out. I imagine the engine is worth around 5 or 6K by itself.

 

i saw on another forum an engine with low miles, less than 20k for sale right around 6 grand. its worth a shot

 

I was down at the parts yard looking at some stuff.A common rail 5-6k 24s were a little less and so forth.

 

I'm sure the motor/tranny would be worth at least 10K if you had the complete wiring harness and steering column.

I base this on a duramax with tranny and computer was going for like 12K. it was in a wreck and has all the wiring with about 20k miles. less than 1 year old.
