SBC FE upgrade to DD?

Was just wondering if it is possible to upgrade the FE I have now to a DD? If so approximately how much would it cost? I already have the hydraulic upgrade.

If you have a FE single disc, I think you have to get a full set up. It seems the flywheel from a dual disc to a single disc would be totally different.

I was thinking about ordering an FE. Why do you want to go to a DD? FE isn't holding?
Thanks,
Topper

Oh no, I am happy with the holding power of the FE, it held the dyno numbers in my sig, and on the street when I lay into it holds as well. I just have some extra money and was curious at how much it would cost to upgrade to a clutch I could drag race with without torching the FE. I should've bought an auto.

haha i same the exact opposite. it would be cheaper to buy a good clutch instead of all the stuff i would need for the auto. besides i actually miss shifting. i was packing the bearings on my boat trailer fri and needed to run to town for some dust caps and took my buddies wifes toyota corolla. the thing is awesome!! 5 speed, 40 mpg and kinda cool...to small though

Yes, that is true....clutches are a lot cheaper for the most part. But as soon as you start seeing the prices of some of the clutches for drag racing and sled pulling you could have a good converter and a few internal trans upgrades. It's like 2500 or so just for the cheapest DD with hydraulic upgrade I think. I would rather drag race than pull a sled, so an auto would be much better for me. But I have a while to go before I am ready to swap in an automatic.

Mail Lary Elis at the DTR store. He did me 3250 DD kit & hydraulic stuff for much cheaper than $2200.

I have been quoted from two different SBC dealers for a DD 12 cb 3600 with all the upgrades and new flywheel. One was $1650 shipped and the other was $1600 + shipping. I an not sure if these are the same one's that you all are looking for but if they are pm me for more details.

i'm not talking buying a completely new unit. I just wanted to know if there was a way to keep my FE disk and buy a new PP, 2nd disk, etc....everything necessary to upgrade to a DD. Just curious, I will likely keep it as is.
