If the Crankshaft harmonic balancer/pulley mounting bolts were the only thing that limited how far the tone ring could be rotated in either direction. How many degrees could it be adjusted one way or another from its factory position.

In other words if one were to drill out the locating dowel pin hole in the tone ring so that it is no longer a limiting factor in tone ring position or how far the tone ring could be rotated. How many degrees could the tone ring be moved?

 

I believe it's about 3 degrees advanced or retarded from stock position after opening up the dowel pin hole and not touching the bolt holes

 

I think it's more like 2 degrees unless you open up the bolt holes too. Then you may get another half degree or so.
