I have a cousin with a 1500 QC Hemi that has an intake, exhaust, chip and some kind of throttle body riser. With the Hot Juice on 4 I can barely pull him. On 5 I can walk away noticeably quicker.

When the 35" Nitto's wear out I want to step down to a smaller and lighter tire. Unfortunately the only thing I can find for the 18" rims are 285's. Those may be to small. I'm worried the may look a little goofy on the WELD rims.

285's look fine on a 16 but I would think it would look kinda strange on an 18.5.
Would be fine stuffed into a 2wd but on a 4wd probably not so much.

So I was out in my hemi 1500 the other day in cleveland. Some guy with a smoky truck on big tires pulls up and wanted to go. I gave him the jump then decided it would be more sporting to race him with the emergency brake on. He beat me by half a truck length or so and **** did he look happy. I could hear those big flapping mud tires slapping the pavement...I just felt so bad for the guy I had to let him win. I mean, he chewed off a quarter of his tread life just getting that beast up to speed. Did I do the right thing?

How fast is a Hemi?

I somehow figured I'd be doing better, but I guess that I better get the other half of the twin turbo set off the shelf and onto my truck... Wow was it smoky behind me!
Apparently almost as fast as your truck. A win is a win and you are comparing apples to oranges here. Maybe even 2WD to 4WD.

The stock Hemi's and Titans are dynoing simular to each other at around the 280 hp mark. Besides the weight advantage, the other reason they can be quicker than a CTD is the 5 speed automatic transmission.

Low and second gears in a 5 speed are lower geared than low and second in a 4 speed automatic. Helps a truck, equiped with one, get out of the hole better, and explains why a stock CTD will loose in a standing start, trailer pull-off against a Power Stroke or Duramax. Despite the low end torque, CTDs need a 5 speed automatic to be competative against the competition.

Speaking of hemi's....I actually lost to one yesterday...although it was wet and I had to let up because of wheelspin...however the hemi was seated in a chrysler 300C..which apparently run high 13's in the quarter. I believe it was the rt8 model also, it had some ground effects etc. I didn't have the juice on HOT though, and it was still reasonably close, but he definitely pulled on me. The funny thing was that it was like a 65-70 year old man, and he talked trash at the stoplight! He was like 'oh you ain't beatin this!, you can't catch me!' ...It was funny...and he was right....lol
