Hotroddiesel or relentless???????
Hotroddiesel or relentless???????
ok I was going to have hotroddiesel install a Con Fe a fass 150, and a TST put on my truck. well hotroddiesel qouted me a price of 4300$ and i was ok with that, but i got to thinking today and decided to call relentless to give them a shot, and low and behold they qouted me the 1200$ cheaper for the same exact things? if i go with relentless i will be able to get a new turbo which im talking about in another thread, bu i want to just make sure my truck is done right. i would rather pay a little more for good work than have to come back for repairs. i have heard a few good things about hotrod but what about relentless? i would like to get some advise from you guys and if i do go with relentless i will deffiantly getting a turbo also. thanks guys
All you are getting is a Con FE, tst and Fass?
That should be about 2500 for parts alone, and 500 max for a clutch install the tst is a 20 min install and I cant speak for fass.
HRD is a good place but I would just buy the parts off the internet and put them on myself. It took me roughly 6 hours to change my clutch and 22.80 to rent a jack.

I can't help thinking that, with a 28% difference in quoted price, there's quite possibly an apples-and-oranges misunderstanding here. You might want to talk to both parties again to ensure that both individuals are quoting precisely the same scope of supply.

I am going to have to agree with this, everytime I've talked to Mike at HotRod he has quoted pretty dang fair prices on parts etc. I don't remember labor but it was a pretty run-of-the mill price... I'm going to get my head tricked out in a month or two at HotRod...

well i had relentless just faxed me there qoute and mow im going to get hot rod to do the same and then compare. but for the most part from over the phone it sounds to me the main difference is the labor
Relentless
Hey, Chris at Relentless did my DTT tranny and I'd recommend anyone to him. He's a great guy. I haven't done any work with Hot Rod, but there's a couple of Houston guys that do all their business with them and they seem happy. Chris knows his stuff.
Chris at relentless installed a valvebody in my tranny a while back. Real nice guy and does good work. Only problem I have with him is that you can't get him on the phone. I called for 3-4 months trying to get a quote to rebuild my tranny and I could never get him to call me back. That's why I went with James.
ok well i just talk to hotrod diesel again and it was my mistake, in my qoute with relentless i did not add the full set of gauges like i did with the guys a hotrod to that made a big difference there and there were some things with the labor also. In no way was i trying to say that hotrod was way over priced i was just confused and tryting to figure out the difference between the two, which turns out was my mistake. The guys at hotrod have been very help and seem very straight forward, and have takin the time to help me figure out what is best for my truck. when i spoke to him he did not talk down on relentless at all he actually recommeded them also. he cleared everything up for me on the qoute and explained what was what and now i understand alot better of whats going on. So I think im going to just stick with hotrod and let him take care of everything. Thanks for the help and i will give a report whenever everything is complete. like i said sorry for the confusion.
I have had HotRodDiesels do most of the work on my truck. Michael has always been more than fair on labor and parts. The work performed has always been excellent with attention to detail beyond the norm.
Chris has an excellent reputation and he would be my second choice for sure.

Chris at Relentless is a one man operation i believe....and Michael at HotRodDiesels is similar.
Chris works hard and fast....but yes getting him on the phone has been interesting. He has always replied to my emails in a timely manner though.
just for the record, Chris is a DTT installer...not a builder. James Northum (James Trans Technology) is a certified DTT builder located in Midlothian, Texas. James works closely with Bill, the owner of DTT. James has done all of my work...FASS, then Glacier, sps62, ATS manfiold, ARP studs, tranny obviously, gauges (autometer...then DiPricol), Juice/A2, TST, etc, etc...I could not be any happier with his services.
