ProSouth,
In addition to what others have added, you may want to consider holding off for either a TST or the new Edge box. Either one of these boxes is going to have considerably more power than what you're looking for, however each is available with a digital pyro and boost on relatively small remotes (the TST remote is a little fella that can be mounted anywhere). The TST box has 9 different power levels, including an off level (unlike the Edge EZ, which cannot be turned off) and we're not sure how many levels the Edge Juice will have.
If you're wanting to move right now, the Edge EZ is a great little box that we've had good success with, however the timing and pulse boxes (versus the EZ's fuel pressure only) will give you better power with less EGT worries.

Thanks for all of the good information guys, I have learned a lot about boxes.
My only problem now is $$$, I can't justify the big bucks for the latest technology and will do good to get a Edge EZ on a deal. I have spent a war pension on this truck in the last 3 months.
I really appreciate the information, we'll have to wait and see how the money goes. Maybe Turbov6joe will make me an offer I can't refuse on his. Thanks! jim

Soon Edge will have out the Juice Module with Attitude display that will give you the gauges and fueling you need and it will work by changing duration and timing only is the current word. You could also go with an Edge EZ with a single pyro on the pillar, but you really should have at least a pyro with any fueling box. Also to get the best use out of the fueling box, the exhaust should also be done maybe a Banks system with Aeroturbine or Aeroturbine system would not be too loud for the wife.
ok heres my 2 cents you have the afe now open up the exhaust with the magna flow it will help cool down the egts as well as a power gain. guages are a must i bought the pod and guages on ebay 300.00 made by banks work fine. i have the ez and it is good wish i would have bought the edge comp instead it can be run in ez mode and adjusted later for more power. and trust me this is like your first beer your going to want more. but with exhaust, afe , guages and a box you will be fine. there is a lot of info here about other upgrades as well. watch your prices i found the comp on ebay for the same price as the ez 500.00
hope this helps

I've been thinking and I tend to agree with what you are all saying.
I really need not be in a hurry to buy a box. I like the idea of a duration/ timing approach. Sounds like a combination of the three (duration/timing/fuel pressure) would make an even better combo. A little of each might really be trick.
I would like to have some free flowing exhaust, but I bought this truck to tow and to Cowboy Caddy in. I really don't want it loud either.
I'll look at the exhaust possibilities, add gages and then I'll be prepared for the box when I do buy one.
Thanks guys, a little logic goes a long ways with me. Jim

Not much has been from the folks at TST. They have been playing with the program a little more, and now have a box with level 1 being timing only.

Whoa, easy guys
The R&D on these boxes will never be completed, nor will the R&D on the Edge box. Each manufacturer will develop and update their programs throughout the life of the product. As an example, the Edge Comp for the 2nd gen trucks has had 8 large revisions, and numerous small software updates. TST's PM3 has had three revisions that I know of.
From talking with Greg at TST, they got their issues sorted out with the wiring harnesses, however the very first production box they installed threw a check engine light, so they cancelled the shipping on the run of units. Needless to say, this took them by surprise since their test boxes ran for 1000s of miles with nary a light. This check engine light was a non-fatal light that does not lead to a defueling situation. They are stymied, as the test box they were running was a final version, and as such used the same production process as the production boxes.
I know this will offend some people, however I believe TST handled it well. No-one recieved any charges to their cards, and unlike some other manufacturers of fueling boxes, they refused to send out the boxes until they got them fixed. Anyone who called about the boxes did get told about the issues, but they were still allowed to pre-order and reserve a box. I think the only thing I would have done differently if I were in TST's shoes was update the web site to reflect the current reality.
As for the updated program, while they are working on the issues surrounding the check engine light, they are further refining the program as well. Again, this is a good thing. TST is not a company to sit back and rest. They will continuously strive to "perfect" their program. Its all good for us guys who want to strap these boxes onto our babies.

ahh, the effectiveness of good information. By thanks rod, that really helps, and all perfectly understandable. If there was a way to keep us abreast of the situation that would be great. -

P.S. by "R&D complete" I meant of course for the purpose of initial release. I expect and urge TST to engage in continuous improvement, but without the information you just shared, it sounded for bit like they had prematurely taken orders before everything was worked out. surprises are a different story altogether. statisticians call them 'corner cases'
I fully understand the birth pains in taking somthing to market, and wish TST all the best.
