So far so good. I have towed heavy and put some power to it and logged just under 20,000 miles in warm to VERY cold weather. I was unable to pull the fuel pressure below 9 with 33,000 pounds total!
I took a spare pump just in case as we all know that for some reason theres never any consistency with many of the pumps on the market today.
I think I got a good one again.

 

That's great. I had one on my 2nd gen and had great luck as well. I towed extremely heavy with it. I know of several people that run them and haven't had any failures yet. It seems the Holley lives much longer when pumping diesel than gas! When they fail it's usually the motor itself that goes, so the extra lubricity of diesel would have absolutely no effect on that... Weird huh.

 

The blue on my second gen is running great so far. 14 at idle and 12 at WOT. We'll see what happens with the comp and 275's this january.

 

9 months and ~16,000 miles on mine... still going strong. The pressure is actually up a little across the board as of late. It's either the colder weather or the pump getting good and broken in

Glad to hear your Holley Blue is working good for you! My little Holley Red
on my 2002 has been on the truck for almost one year now!!! Like you,
I tow regularly and cut that pump NO SLACK at all!! I can tell you this,.......
the Holleys are ALOT better than those Product Engineering Pumps both
my son and I ran! I had two (2) of those and neither one lasted more
than three (3) months!!!! And,......my Holley Red cost about $90.00
versus $300.00 for the PE's! IMO,.....the Holley Pumps are a good value
and so far seem to be pretty reliable! Heck, you can buy almost four (4)
Holley Reds for what I paid for one PE!

I found some very interesting things in my PE pump when I took it apart. Once I get my camera, I'll take some better pics of it.

 

Forget getting the Holley blue fuel pump and go get you a AirDog Fuel system which come with all new lins and fittings,and everything else you need. It flows 90 gph, Ihave it on my truck and works great. If you want to read the specs on it go to www.dieselinnovations.com

 

One of the biggest problems I have with the air dog/fass is the cost and the fact that you can't pick one up anywhere. 90gph ain't that impressive. My holley flows 110gph@14psi. My old Black (which is still running over a year later) flows 140@14psi. The Holley Red flows 97gph@7 psi. The best part about them is that all three of those combined don't add up to the cost of even one of the air dogs. Plus I can pick one up at any advanced auto store.

 

well I am just stating a fact that I have an airdog system and a buddy has one and he is runnin 14.01 in the 1/4 mile with a hx55 turbo and isn't havin any problems.

I cant speak for the Air Dog but I dont think anybodys needed to replace their FASS

 

I never said it was a bad pump. Just extremely expensive and not easily obtainable.

Powerstroke This, what does my 1/4 mile time have to do with my fuel pump? Look at banshee's 1/4 mile time. Or John_P's horse power levels. Or scotty's current or previous trucks. I think those speak for themselves about the Holley.

 

Now why are you guys picking on "Big Blue?" He just made a simple statement
that the Holleys are alot cheaper than the PE's, the FASS Pumps or the "Air Dog."
He is also right about a member not being able to just "pick one up at a local
parts store" IF you do have a failure. The Holley Pumps can be found at ANY
"Advanced Auto Parts" Store nationwide! As I said in my earlier post, IMO
they are a good value for the money! In comparison to the FASS and "Air Dog"
systems, you could buy almost six (6) Holleys for what ONE (1) of those
systems cost. I was personally quoted a price of over $600.00 for an "Air
Dog" at the recent Scheid Rally!!!

to discuss 1/4 mile times I ran 12.94 @ 102.9 with my 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve
running a Piers HX-40 AND the Holley Red Pump! Last weekend my son ran a
13.9 @ 98 MPH with his 2004 Dodge CTD CR with a 6 SPEED AND a Holley Blue!
And, as "Big Blue" stated, I don't see your point on "1/4 mile time & fuel pump"
but if you are referring to the how "efficient" the fuel system is (GPH, pressure
etc.) and equating that to the drag strip, then I would have to say the Holley
Pumps can get the job done!!

I know of at least four failures on the older FASS system. However, so far I have
not heard of any problems with the newer "Air Dog" Fuel System. And to be fair,
I know of members here and friends that have had problems with the Holleys.
But for the money, I still believe they are a good value, they offer a full replacement
warranty for 90 days (Advanced Auto) and are very easy to work on and get parts
for.

One thing the owners of the FASS and "Air Dog" Systems should realize.............
It is my understanding that both of these systems have the owner REMOVE
the stock lift pump. I can tell you from experience (PE Pumps) that if your
FASS or "Air Dog" does fail or malfunction the VP-44 is not going to last
long "pulling" that fuel all the way from the fuel tank!! I still have my
stock lift pump and if my Holley does fail I have it set-up so that I can
still get home and fuel pressure.

Has anyone thought of hooking the pump up as an aux, so it normally stays off, but place a pressure switch that would make it come on if the Fuel pressure dropped below (maybe 7 PSI)??? This would greatly increase the pump life, keep things quite during normal idling etc, but would be there when you needed it (best of all worlds)....

Just an idea... think it would work??

I can Speak for the AirDog it hasn't given me any trouble at all and has worked great!
