Holley Blue update
PowerstrokeThis:
I didn't say the quarter mile time had anything to do with the fuel pump!! You were
the one who brought it up "Powerstroke!! In your post you said; "I have an air dog
system and a buddy has one and he is runnin 14.01 in the 1/4 mile with a HX-55 and
isn't having any problems." You then asked "Big Blue" how fast his truck ran the 1/4
mile! If you will go back and read it, that is what it says.............
In my post I was merely responding to your post "Powerstroke!" I was trying to
show you that you don't have to have an "AirDog" to have an efficient fuel delivery
system. I am glad you are happy with your "Air Dog!"
My feeling on them is
that they are a little "overpriced" and I also don't like the fact that they have the
owner remove the stock lift pump for the reasons I stated in my last post.

Asher:
I am sure your idea could be made to work if that is what you want. But,.......in
my case I want all the pressure I can get constantly so when I "put my foot in it"
that fuel is getting to the VP-44 and beyond!

Has anyone thought of hooking the pump up as an aux, so it normally stays off, but place a pressure switch that would make it come on if the Fuel pressure dropped below (maybe 7 PSI)??? This would greatly increase the pump life, keep things quite during normal idling etc, but would be there when you needed it (best of all worlds)....
Just an idea... think it would work??

I know of several folks using the FASS that got some of my fuel kit to go with it. Seems to finish it off nicely. Several have purchased my filter housing adapter on the 3rd gens.
Have a good wknd folks.

A simple one way valve plumbed in paraelle(sp) to the Holley would let you get home if your Holley quit(rumor has it a CP3 will pull fuel). But really it is two bolts and a couple of fittings if you need to change it on the side of the road. At $279 for the Scotty kit + $140 for the holley + ~$15 for the cummins pigtail, it adds up to $434. Considerably cheaper than an AirDog @ $1250 or a FASS @ $850+ plumbing supplies. I can replace Holleys once a year for 4 years before I get to the cost of a FASS and ~7 years for the price of an AirDog. It just comes down to dollars and cents for this Hillbilly.

P.S. These prices are Canadian.

I have the DD kit. It's cheaper than the Holley w/ Scotty's adapter, but it does replace the factory pump. I've got 10k miles with no probs. It is VERY loud though. Almost annoying when it's cold out @ idle...
Deuce:
The DD Fuel Pump is a 4600 series "Carter" as I recall. As "WhiteSport 600"
pointed out, they are a little cheaper than the Holleys, but as he said (which
I agree with) they are louder when running. They do seem to hold up well
though. I know that "Haisley Machine" also sells them and says they hold
up well. I think their "maximum" flow/pressure Carter is around 100 GPH @
15 psi. My Holley Red flows 97 GPH @ 7 psi and the Holley Blue flows 110
GPH @ 14 psi. IMO, the Holley Blue is a little too high for my 2002 Dodge
CTD as I still am using my stock lift pump and max pressure with the
Holley Blue is 27lbs at idle! With the Holley Red I have about 20-22
max at idle and never get below 13-15 lbs. at WOT.
I agree with "Big Blue" on why the Holley is a good choice! Mine is very
quiet when running too.
Hope this has helped you some Deuce!

All this talk about fuel pressure is great, and it's nice to see that all you kids are getting along
BUT.......................................
Is there any real gain other than feeling better about having more pressure? Does the truck run any better? My stock pump is putting out 6psi at idle and 4psi while cruising and also 3.5psi when I get into it. This may seem low but the truck runs fine. I'd hate to go through all the $$$ and time for one of those systems without seeing any kind of gains. Of course, I'm not running a bigger turbo though. Just a little EZ box....

I saw negative 2 on a digital gauge. That was with just the old EZ.
What that means to me is the CP3 is taking up the slack...I would think it could equate to issues with it later on down the road.
For me its not so much about the high pressure, its more of a constant pressure and volume.
I should've stated that.
