high beams and fog lights
My fogs work with the high beams without having to add any jumpers, diodes, relays, or anything else. I bought the factory fog light kit with factory replacement switch and installed them per the instructions and ended up with fogs that stay on with the brights.
I have a 2001 also and here is how I did it with mine, not sure if other years is the same. The foglight relay exists only to turn off the fogs when the highs come on. If you remove the relay you can place a jumper, I used 12 gauge copper, between the two sockets closest to the fender. they are the two that run in the direction of the truck. This allows the lights not to stay on, but rather, not to be turned off when the highs are on. Works great and is free.
Go to the dealership. They can do it diagnostically. They enabled my high idle feature and high beams with fog lights on. The tech has to look for the export option in the "headlamps" "window" to be able to add the feature so your high beams will stay on. It took him about 4 mins. No jumper wires....
i hate talking to the " know it alls" at the dealorships...
hell one of the tryed telling me that putting in a high flow air filter would void the warrenty ... " it leans out the air fuel ratio causing the motor to run hotter and it'll eventualy cause damage to the catalitic converter and other parts of the emisons system , as well as posably burn the valves..." i started laughing so loud the owner of the dealorship came over to see whats up.. aperently it wasnt the first time that had hapened and he got handed a box to clean his desk out and asked to leave....
