help wanted: where to put the pyro probe
The two most common places are here...

and here...

I have mine mounted on top of the manifold, mainly because my pyro came with a 1/4" thread and I didn't feel like tapping that thick ramped piece with a huge 1/4" hole. Tapping for an 1/8" hole is so much easier.

I installed mine post turbo, in the elbow for safety's sake, about 1-2 inches from the turbo. it took all of 10 minutes to remove the fender liner and the v clamps and have the elbow on the work bench, another 15 minutes to drill, tap, and re-install. i use 900 as a max sustained egt and 1000 as a max egt for short wot bursts. there can be a 200-500 degree difference compared to pre turbo location, egt's will be in the closer range at wot. there will also be an egt difference in the two pre turbo locations as well, another reason i opted for post turbo.
Some people who dont do a lot of moding put them post turbo for shutdown egts. Most modders like them pre turbo. this gives you a more instant and actual temperature. if you get to hot preturbo you can let off, post turbo you get to hot...Damage done. A good pyromoter is made from inconel, which is very heat resistant and most likely will not see failure in a life time.
I personally like post turbo just in front of number #5 before it heads down the collector.

i use my turck for work everyday, so i need to be 100% certain that i wont ever have an egt probe break and go through my turbo. sure its not likely and probably wont happen, but i know it will never happen post turbo. also under wot the air is moving through the exhaust so fast anyway that there will be much less difference in egt. if i had a truck set up for drag, sled pull or an extreme high performance motor then i would have installed pre turbo. im more concerned w/ reliability, dependability, and warranty. my dealer also recomended post turbo install so that my manifold and turbo warranty would not be affected. also if a probe does ever break it wont just be the turbo getting destroyed, it will also send metal into the head and cylinders. could you imagine getting an egt gauge w/ a faulty probe and losing your motor because of it and then have to pay for it out of pocket because your warranty is no more? it would only take one bad probe being produced to ruin some unlucky persons year. i know it wont be mine.
