HE351 swap- Drain tubes

FYI, if you swap a HE351 into an 03', replace the drain tube with one for the HE351. I didn't and have always had a little oil leak issue. I just changed them out so I don't know for sure if it was the tube or the Pacbrake. Anyway, the 03 tube opening at the turbo is SMALLER creating a restriction.

Well I'll be darned! I know I told you I didn't believe that was your issue, but you may have found the problem... I used my stock 03 drain tube when I did the HE351 swap and had no problems. Still kind of difficult to believe that's what was causing your oil migration into the boost tube, but I hope it is. Let us know.

I think if the only thing I did was swap turbos, there wouldn't be an issue. I believe the Pacbrake back pressure combined with the slight restriction, is what is causing the oil to seep.

Pic I took after changing the tube and wiping the wet oil off of the turbo and running around most of the day using the Pacbrake often. NO new oil . I'll wash all the old oil off this morning now that the motor has cooled off and keep an eye on it.

For now, here is the pic after installing the larger tube install and test drive.

Well it's been just over a week since the drain tube swap.

NO MORE OIL LEAK

I am attributing the leak to the minimal restriction combined with the exhaust brake blowing what little oil wasn't draining fast enough.
