hardware ?

OK so I sheared a couple of bolt that connect the tranny support for lack of a better word. It is the rubber vibration isolator between the crossmember and tranny. So after going to four different hardware stores I cant find any grade 8 metric hardware or they have a very limited selection. The parts guy at the dealer told me they were 10mm X 30mm X 1.25 TP or 1.5 TP I cant remember. Ace had the correct size in grade 5 and stainless. My experience at work has proven stainless to be pretty tough. My question is what should I put in it ? The truck is on jackstands right know and I need to get it on the road asap. Pretty sad when you have to speacial order a metric bolt for you American truck. Phil out

I would say use what you can find to get it up and going. Then look for a nut and bolt store in your area. Not sure where you live and whats around but I know here locally we have 2 stores that carry specialty nuts and bolts and have never had a problem locating an odd size bolt.NAPA also tends to have a little better selection than most for automotive bolts.

Cool yeah there is a speacialty store some where here in Santa Cruz CA. Lived in Raleigh for a while. I asked the Dodge dealer parts man if he could order them he said just go to the hardware store. I wonder what the stock hrdware for that app is ?

Try a Cat or Cummins shop they use lots of Grade 8 bolts in many sizes...

How did you manage to shear them both off? You need to figure that out before putting new bolts in ther.

Is the dealer prohibitively expensive?

Often, their hardware is cheaper overall than going aftermarket, and they'll have the correct metric bolts in the strength needed (8.8 = Gr5, 10.6 = Gr8).
