Nice write up, But i am 99.9% positive that these wheels are not HUB CENTRIC but rather are lug centric.

So doing it with the router is fine, although the 2 sets that i have done i did on a milling machine with a offset boring head.

 

Yea I tend to agree and I think I should change that. I still wonder though why Dodge makes the stock upgrade aluminum wheels fit so closely. All I did was copy the hole size I measured from the stock wheels.

 

Anyone know what the correction factor for MPH is?

 

My truck is only 2 mph off with the LT315s...........

 

at what speed? To me it looks like it should be off 15% which is like 9mph at 60mph. I had the stock tires which were 265/70/17's.

 

That writeup is not correct. The H2 wheels are not "hubcentric" and there is no need to open them up to the precise size of the Dodge wheel. They should have a little more clearance so they won't get stuck and so the lugs can center them without binding. Clearance in the center is important. The lugs center the wheel and support all the weight.

The pinion factor can be reset to the proper tire diameter at the dealer with a DRB tool or you can do it with a Smarty.

If you just allow for it while driving you won't have the correct shift points.

I think the 315s are set for 604 revs per mile on the DRB and the Smarty uses the diameter. Can't remember the diameter but you can get it from the tire manufacturer or from Tirerack.com.

I have GPS and at any speed my speedo is off by 5 MPH . When the speedo says 60 My gps says 65. I have 315 cooper ATRs and they measure 34 1/4 ".

 

I did that way back when. My truck came with the factory upgrade aluminum rims. Those rims had precision machined perfectly fit holes. I copied the factory wheels.

 

I finished the smoothing and bondo work on the caps last night.

They are in the basement right now getting painted. I am going to get 4-5 coats on them.

I am also going to spray a coat or two of clear coat on them, so the project should be by this weekend.

The valve stem sleeves and valve stem caps are also done.

Looking forward to the pictures as I am looking to paint my center caps to match my rims. How did you treat the stock caps (chromed) to accept the paint? What bondo work are you doing?

Agree just GPS'd my truck this morning and it is off 5-6 at 60-70mph and off 3 at 40mph.

 

I ended up using H2 caps, smoothed over the HUMMER logo and repainting them. I did have to mate up two caps to clear the rear hubs.

I also bought some valve stem sleeves and valve stem caps, which I painted to match the silver satin color on the H2 wheels.
