Golden Trann is no more!!!!! She blew up!!!

Well it finally happened... Coming home yesterday my truck was coasting down a hill and then when went to accelerate NOTHING!! No loud boom, clanging or banging... So got pulled off the side of the road got out tried all gears nothing... Even left it in gear and had one of my employees watch to see if the driveline would move.. Nothing... So she's sitting in the driveway at the moment... Started making calls for a built tranny yesterday!! 44 thousand miles on a little over 550 hp... Not bad for a Dodge tranny plus towing 19k almost every day!!!

Hate to hear it but I know you were just waiting. Atleast it is not a big shock that it happened.

You should have that trans bronzed and mounted in your garage. Bet you could charge a fee to come view it... It was one in a million... literally.

I commend that tranny too...and while my truck is about 100+ horsies behind your truck (never put it on a dynojet to see my numbers or anything), I don't see how as many folks talk down on the 48RE as they do. I have over 30K on my truck running both of my boxes up pretty high (Edge on 5 though because 6 causes surging unless I am in the skinny pedal) and my fluids still look nice and reddish pink and it shifts like it did the day I bought her...does she slip if I get on it, yes...will it fail sometime, DEFINITELY...but until then, I say "Why fix somethin that ain't broke"...I'll go aftermarket when it does, but in the mean time, I think Dodge is rolling out with a tranny that is doing just fine...stock, I bet they would last a LONG time.

I'll have to agree with you here. Mine is finally starting to slip bad if I get into it hard with the power up, but on stock power levels it still shifts decent.

Lots of trans builders out there. Time for some decisions!
