Goerend question

I got a goerend trans installed tuesday, I know the shifts are firm but dang! So I checked my fluid and it was too full, I know this is really bad and I'm gonna drain before I leave work, but could this cause harsh shifts? TIA. Richie

How are you checking the fluid? 48re does better a little overfilled. Are you talking about the harsh 4th gear lockup? If so, you will learn to drive around it. No biggy.

I checked it at operating temp in neutral on flat ground. The fluid comes almost an inch above max.

Believe me, I'm gonna. You think that could be the cause of my problem? Pretty much every shift under light acceleration is harsh.

Dave told me a little overfilled is fine, no problem.

Well I took out about a half quart and that seemed to make it a lot better. Spooler, does the 4th gear lockup shift pretty hard on yours? Thanks guys.

When Dave installed my tranny he said that these trannies do better overfilled so I personally wouldn't worry. He overfilled mine on purpose.

The 4th gear lock up it pretty harsh but you'll learn to deal with it.. Dave also recommended that I leave my tranny a little overfilled. I've just learned to ease out of the throttle during the 3/4 shift

Same here with the overfill on the tranny. I was out at his shop a couple weeks ago and Dave said that he likes to overfill these trannys a little. Just like cincydiesel diesel said I ease out of the throttle a little bit to make the shift a little smoother, you get used to it pretty quickly though.

as long as you are not seeing foamyness when you check it, I was told it is not too full.
