Alright, my boss has a 05 Duraturd with a Dr. perf chip and that is it, not the racing one he says. He claims it is a 100Hp program. What do I need to do my 06 to beat him and what about the tranny, how much can it take in stock form? My old 03 6.0 chevy gas could keep him within a truck length until about 80 and then he would start pulling away. I am looking at the Edge w/attitude and all the goodies but wondering what else is out there that works good for a daily driver and towing about 8000# max.-Frog

thefrog, If you want to maybe beat him get any of the boxes that work on the 06, If you want to beat him get the TST and use carefully. You should be able to run 6 4 or 6 5 on rare occasions with out killing anything, 4 4 everyday hot rodding, 1 x for mileage. 1x gives you timing and boost fooling...no additional direct fueling duration. Get the one with gauges and you are on your way....add a tranny temp gauge....a straight through muffler....and for air one of ....a ventilated airbox, a Scotty 5, or a bhaf and you are good. For over 4 4 on a regular basis you will need TC VB and Flexplate as a minimum

For a cheaper route, get a Bully Dog Power Pup w/Crazy Larry. Set it on Crazy just to beet him then run it on performance/90hp setting for everyday driving.

Crazy Larry will do the job,But Upgrade your intake and at the end of the Race From WOT slowly back of the pedal, its possible with CL to have the Drive ratios so far apart That you can snap the Turbine shaft (on stock Turbo),Also you are giving up 600 to 800 LBS GVW,So lighten up Fuel,Tools,Spare etc.and than return to Tow/economy until other upgrades are purchase.

My boss who is also one of my hunting buddies has a 05 Duramax with a Edge w/attitude, AFE stage 2 and a MBRP exhuast. I have been in his truck several times and my truck with the mods in my sig would not have a chance against his. Now maybe if I had the same mods as his it would be a different story but I did not buy my truck to race with but to tow our 5th wheel with.

We see the same posts all the time. The DMAX and the 6.0s are V8's with much shorter stroke. They rev much quicker than our long stroke inline 6's, which gets them up to speed much much faster than we can on average. Our engines were made for pulling with lots of low end torque from the huge pistons and long stroke…..not exactly ideal for quick get-up-and-go when racing. You just need to spend more money if you want to go faster. Stock for stock and even mildly bombed, the Cummins should be the slowest in the 1/4 mile every time.

I used to think about such things when I was in my teens and early 20's, but fortunately I have matured a little in the last 25 year's.Is beating someone elses
truck really that much on peoples mind. Maybe it's just me but when I spent 33,000 dollars on a truck , the ability of it being able to beat a Ford in a race didn't come into the equation.I was thinking of it's towing ability.Hey maybe that's something to brag about. MY TRUCK CAN TOW MORE THAN YOUR TRUCK.

Well, I am probably 25 yrs younger, I dont know, Im 26 though. I towed my camper once or twice in about 2 yrs and my 16' trailer a half a dozen times. So basically, I dont tow much! I Bomb the Edit out of it on a daily basis though, and all I can think about is smoking other trucks with some juice!......................So, Yes I bought my 33k+ truck to race it! Gas trucks arent as fun to supe up and race around! Besides, how can you stand stock power in a CTD? I live in Dallas, and without my chip, I have to hammer it every time I want to pass someone!

............Keep the hammer down Cole!

Get your transmission fixed first - you will have a hard time with that slushbox convertor. If you get the power you will trash the trannie and need to get it rebuilt anyway.
Call DTT.

People who mildly bomb a Cummins deserve to lose the race. Spend till its gone and beat the Ferds and Duralax. It should be noted that everyone who's really fast in a diesel is using a CUMMINS diesel. ks

Frog, just tell him he is quicker, if I had a Chevy I too would want to out run something that could drag my *ss all over town; hook up hitches and drag him around, give him a kleenex and tell him it is okay,
