Gear Ratio's?

Other than checking RPM at certain speeds, what is a sure fire way to figure out what rear end you have??

I talked to Dave Goerend and he said its usually on the rear diff cover on the left side, but I didnt see anything, only the level marker on the center of the diff cover.

I was told I have 4:10 gears at the dealer, but a buddie of mine doesnt think I have them. Just want to make sure with the Goerend tranny on the way!!

Any think I can check on the truck...its not listed on my sales sheet?

Put a mark on the drive shaft and mark on the bottom of one of the tires. Move the truck forward one full rotation of the tire and have a buddy count the rotation of the mark on the drive shaft. If it rotates about 3 n 3/4 then you have 3.73's, if it rotates a little over 4 then you have 4.10's. The bigger tires will make the rotation of the drive shaft's slightly off from what they would be from the factory so you'll have to compensate but it's the same principle.

The bigger tires won't matter. One rotation is one rotation, no matter the radius of curvature. What will change is the distance traveled through that rotation.

you can email chrysler and request a build sheet, or call a dodge service department and they can look it up

I looked and it was posted in the glove box....never seen that before! Ha.

I told the guy I wast buying one without 4:10's and he swore it was...whatever, its pretty perfect....any higher and the price to drive would be too much.
