GDP Fuel Boss review after a month

Best product I have bought for my truck and I have bought and tried about evrything out there. You really want to get this fuel solution over any other for a lot of reasons. I will point out the major ones.

1. Your stock system still works and only turns off once the Fuel Boss is primed and up to pressure. About a second.

2. The stock pickup is at the best possible spot to get the most fuel out of the tank. When you get low on fuel the Fuel Boss will just revert back to the stock lift pump and allow you to drain your tank.

3. My fuel pressure goes even higher at WOT. It regulates from about 18psi at idle to 22psi at WOT.

4. The Fuel Boss gear driven pump is capable of making over 90psi all day. The initial kit comes with gears that keeps you around 20psi so you don't pop the plastic top off of the fuel filter housing. If you buy the billet aluminum cap for the filter housing then you can buy a different gear to get higher pressure. Might take 5 minutes to change both cap and gear.

5. System is silent and out of the way.

I can keep going with all the things I like about this product but these are the major reasons. I have had it on for over a month and it hasn't had a single hiccup. I feel really safe having a mechanical system over an electrical one and I don't think it will ever wear out or fail. And if it does fail I still have the stock system fully functioning and it will just take over automatically. I can only tell which one is working by looking at my guages. By the time the Commander display lights up I am already at 18-19psi. I have ran my tank down to below the red line on fuel gauge and have seen the stock system take over to get every last drop of fuel out of the tank. I am pretty sure that with any other system I would have been walking 20 miles to a gas station that night. Do yourself a favor and do some research on this system if you are looking to upgrade your fuel system. You may not be able to afford it and have to go with a different system and they are all pretty good but if you have the money this is the one you want. Happy modding, Tom J.

I am in the research phase for a fuel supply system. You make some pretty interesting points about having the stock supply as a back up. I like that redundancy. Did you research other products as well as the GDP fuel Boss? If you have any information on the "Eliminator" system i'd be glad to listen.

P.S. congrats on the install.

So if you are getting on the throttle pretty good near or less than 1/4 tank does the engine hicup or miss at all when the GDP transfers to the electric pump? In other words is it a seamless transfer from GDP to factory pump while fueling hard?

I am sorry but I haven't researched the Eliminator system. I will do some research tonight. As for the second question I can feel no difference when switching from the Fuel Boss to stock pump. Even when I was well below the red empty line on my fuel gauge and my overhead display was flashing low fuel, If my rpms got above 1800 all of the sudden my fuel pressure would jump to 20psi but at a stop light I would get 8psi. I am guessing that I was going back and forth between the 2 systems but my truck never hiccuped and pressure never droped below 8psi. No noise or misses truck just ran like normal. If there is a downside to this setup I haven't found it yet. The only issue I had at first was I had just changed my fuel filter and I guess I have a pretty strong stock pump and had to spend 2 minutes and an allen wrench to adjust the Hobbs switch because the pressure was high enough from the stock pump that the switch didn't kick on the Fuel Boss until I got the truck moving and got rpm's up. Called Rich at GDP and he told me what allen wrench to get and give it a turn and a half and I did the adjustment in the dark (dead batteries in flashlight). It can't be too difficult if you can do it in the dark and can't even see the switch. Anyways, Good Luck and happy modding, Tom J.

I guess the next question is, does the GDP or MITUSA require fuel to lubricate it when it is running. If so running the tank low could cause an early death of the mechanical pump I would imagine. I am getting the MITUSA I just dont know how I am going to set it up yet.

The Mitusa is a similar system from what I have read on the forums and may be cheaper and allow you to use a Fluidampener. But GDP has some of the best customer service in the industry. Similar to Quadzilla with customer support but I have never had any significant problems with GDP products I wish I could say the same about Quadzilla but they at least go the extra mile to make it right.
