GDP fuel boss

Anyone seen the Fuel Boss system on Glacier Diesel's website? I've been pondering a walbro forever now, but it looks like this system would be even better am I correct? Anyone know more about it? And how soon it might be available to 3rd gens?

Looks to me like it is basically a copy of the MITUSA which intelligent engineering / OPIE has been selling for quite some time now. I have the MITUSA and it is awesome. World's better then the FASS i had.

Check here to see what the GDP kit seems to be a copy of...

Chris,

What does that setup run if you don't mind me asking? Also, how loud is it when it's running?

I installed the kit on a 2nd gen and it is AWESOME. I cant wait till I can get one on my truck. It was a simple and clean install.

I think you get alot for your money from GDP and the customer service is 2nd to none...

So from what I am gathering here the Fuel Boss system which is Mechanical is a much better system than the electric lift pumps like the fass and walbro, etc??

And still, does anyone have any idea how soon it will be available to us 3rd gen guys?

Can someone explain why it's worth the extra $'s vs. the GDP 392 kit? And if someone shooting for 400-450hp should get it in lieu of the 392 kit?

Thx

I honestly don't know what current pricing is. I bought mine early on, and i believe pricing has come down since then. I believe it is comparably priced to what GDP is now offering.

I don't know if it makes any noise or not. It is mounted on the engine, right below the crank pulley (which is what drives it), so all i can tell you is that on a 2nd gen, it is definitely not as loud as the engine. You can't hear it.

I can't speak for the walbro, but i have had a fass and i would take mechanical any day over electric. Period.

(check the link i posted above) Opie has kits available for the 3rd Gen trucks. If you're in a hurry for one, or want to reward ingenuity, you could always contact the guy who came up with them.

This looks sweet, by why are so many so interested in this setup when the RASP has been out for years? Isn't it the same exact thing basically? I don't stay up to date on all the products, but did the RASP turn out to be crap or something? I assume the RASP is still for sale?

Of course opie didn't invent "the" mechanical pump... I'm not trying to imply that he did. But that system is something that Opie came up with. If you look at the GDP system, it is virtually identical to what Opie has been selling.

Coolslice, I'm not 100% sure, but I have heard from a few people that the RASP is either not being sold, or is hard to get for some reason. It was and still is a good product, I think it was just priced to high to become widely accepted.

The RASP is basically the same system as the others that are being discussed here. Opie was involved in the development of the RASP, but he is now selling an improved version under his own name, MITUSA = (made in the USA).
