GDP-392 Install on '03

Do I need to drop the tank on an '03 to install the GDP-392? It doesn't say to do it in the instructions, but getting to the hoses on top of the tank looks like it will be a pain. Any pointers or tips? Thanks!

From my understanding you shouldn't have to drop the tank if the lift pump is mounted on the fuel filter canister.

On the models before 04.5, you don't have to drop the tank because your lift pump is mounted in line already. On the 04.5+ models, the lift pump is in the tank and we have to drop the tank in order to install b/c of the holes you have to drill in the top of the tank. From my understanding, that is how it works. I'm not sure on how the fuel lines run on the models with the inline pumps, but it may be easier to drop the tank. I don't know.

As far as the "hardness" of the installation on the 2007 model, it's a little harder than the older models because you have to drop the tank, but it's still not bad at all. Just be sure to have a buddy to help drop it. It also helps to have an 1/8th tank of fuel or less.....

That is correct you do not have to drop the tank on the 03 model. Didn't switch to the in-tank pump till 05 or if you had the dealer install in-tank pump under warrenty. The only hose you have to put by the tank is at the fuel filler pipe shows pic of it in instructions. Other than that everything is done on the frame with install. Takes about 3-4 hrs.
