The TSB that is suppose to help mileage is #18-003-06, I
t also helps with hard starting i think. But aside from that, Someone earlier in this thread stated that a 6 mile commute to work would not help with gas mileage because the cummins isnt warmed up yet....Is this true? Cause I drive about 8 miles to work one way.

Not that I would get rid of my cummins for the world, cause pulling my 6000# camper is 100x easier that with the Hemi I had.

Yes, this is true. Just make sure you give her some good long high way runs regularly to blow the junk out. Maybe use a little additive as well.

I traded in an 04 305 H.O. 3500 SRW long box, for an 06 2500 short box. Wish I never did that. This 06 can't hold a candle to that 305 when it comes to mileage or power. Same gears, both automatics. I guess I would be happy with this truck if I didn't drive the 04 first for so long. But after the 04 this 06 is just a lazy pig. As you can tell, I am not very happy with it.

I know the mileage seems weak, but you're the first I've heard say the 325/610 motor is making less power than the 305/555.

I would say full throttle power is close. But throttle response and part throttle power is not close. I have to push the throttle down alot more on the 06. Which of course makes the transmission down shift and the rpms soar. It is like driving a 4 cylinder rice burner the way it likes to downshift. A diesel should not have to turn 3000 rpm to pull.

I traded in a 2001 dodge 2500 long box and My 06 blows the doors off it. Of course the 01 was not HO but everything is an improvement with the 06 in my opinion. Ride, power, and interior. The inside door panels on the 01 felt like they were made of cardboard and it was a Laramie.

For you guys that are driving a diesel truck 6-8 miles to work....fuel prices need to go up...way up! That is ridiculous. Ride a bike and work that beer belly off so the rest of us that make a living actually burning diesel to get work OUT OF IT have a chance at some cheaper fuel.

Mine is an 03 SO. I think the 4x4 and the H before the O means you have to buy more fuel. I've never gotten less than 21mpg on a road trip and it's usually more like 22-23 (overhead saying 25). That's on a run from Houston to San Antonio. 200 miles of fairly flat ground with the cruise set on 72 and using GPS for trip odometer. I have a short drive to work, it's just hitting 190 deg. when I pull into the garage. Back and forth to work I see about 15mpg with the overhead saying 16-17mpg.. Towing a 5000lb boat mostly on the freeway I'm getting between 14-15. I don't believe I've ever gotten less than 13 in the worst of conditions. Have not done a road trip with the new exhaust but I doubt it hurt my mileage any..

Mileage amazed me when coming from a 1990 suburban (1/2 ton, 2wd, 350) to the dodge. Sub city driving was 11-12mpg, freeway trip best was 16 mpg., 8mpg towing the boat (where the big difference was).. Slight increase in towing power too (-:}...

some of you should chill a bit, I started this thread to see what other peoples cases where since i'm getting mileage less than my 01 PSD. I think it's just cause it's not broke in yet, but in no-way am I unhappy with the truck. I love it.

The only thing I've come to not love is the off-the-line turbo lag. Unless you stage a bit off the line, it takes a little bit to get going, but when it does it really screams. The other problem is the transmission seems like it can never find the right gear when your cruising between 35-50mph.

Other than those two things, the truck is awesome, I would never go back to the PSD..

It is quite amazing how you have averaged that out over only 400 miles? Did you fill up after your 16-17 in town, and then again after your 20-22 highwya to determine that? Man, I only need to fill up my truck every 500-600 miles. 400 miles and you have filled up twice alredy? Oh, wait a minute....you got on the highway and you reset your over head and got the 20-22MPG. That's right, I can do that also, and it starts out at like 35-40 MPG, and then drops and drops and drops Boy, how some can come up with an average fuel economy after only 400 miles is beyond me. Oh wait another minute, ther is a guy onthis board that came up with a fuel economy avg after only 68 miles!!!!!! After 10K miles, then post what you avg over that, until then, you have averaged SQUAT.

Do i seem to be ? Oh, yeah, becasue it gets very frustrating with why people need to lie or exagerate.
