G56 Transmission noise after going to solid fly wheel
Love my SB OFE, but is there a way to quiet down the transmission noise after getting rid of the DM flywheel? No one else notices it, (or no one says anything), but I definitely hear it.
I'm thinking of maybe another boot in between the rubber one and the fake leather one? Anyone tried or heard of anything like this?

That's just the nature of the beast. Any time you remove a dmf and replace it with a solid flywheel your going to get more transmission noise. Mine is noticeably louder once I put my OFE in but I don't notice it anymore. You will get used to it. A small price to pay for a lot more holding power.

I think the extra noise makes it sound like there's something wrong with the tranny, especially when towing.
A guy at SB (not Peter) suggested I put an extra quart of fluid into the tranny to quiet things.

I called South Bend about this a few installs ago, but I notice now they send a paper in the kit that exlpains the increased noise due to "Gear Rollover".
I'm guessing that will reduce the amount of phone calls they get on the matter.
My 3250DD make quite a bit more noise idling and in 5th below 1900 rpm. It has been that was for 11K miles.

I have heard of adding a extra qt to the NV5600 but not the G56? If this is true i will for sure add one! The fluidamper does more for your truck than make your tranny more quiet, it is easier on motor also, mostly for high RPM's but it doesen't hurt anything for sure!
