My buddy has an 06 with the g56. I put a S B dual disc 3850 and hydraulics in it about a year ago. Its getting real hard to shift and reverse is so bad you need 2 hands to jam it in . Whats the deal here? I think he having disengaugement problems.

try adjusting the throw on the hydros to see if it helps. also as far as reverse is concerned, shift into 3rd prior to shifting into reverse, this will help line up the syncros and should slide right in. at least this helped on my 06.

What do you do to adjust the throw? I cant remember what down there anymore, its been that long. It seems like the clutch has too short of travel to me, but there is never any grinding or creeping when the clutch is in.

No problem engaging any other gears?

... sounds like the reverse shifter fork is coming apart from the reverse shift rail (the welds aren't very strong); here's one I welded back together:

The other 6 are tuffer than sew stock trans to get into. But a little extra umph and its in. tho reverse you have to use both hands to pull it down, it feels like the shifter is gonna snap off doing it.

In that case, it probably isn't the tranny - might have an issue with the 4 fingers on that 3850 pressure plate.

The 3850 is known for breaking the fingers on daily drivers! Peter recammends the 3600 for trucks that are street driven and pull as well.

That is precisely what happened to my 3850 and again this year to my 3600. Peter then gave me a diaphragm style plate.

That stinks i really dont want to be taking another trans out. I just had the 99s out not long ago and cut my hand really bad. What did you do to determine that the fingers are the problem? What should i go and look at?

You have to pull the tranny to inspect the fingers... when they break you can hear the extra rattling noise.
