Fuel Pressure / Rail Pressure Gauge?

I was looking at putting gauges on my truck and the 3 gauges the majority of people suggested Boost/Pyro and a fuel pressure gauge and also a rail pressure gauge but if I am shooting for 600hp would fuel pressure be good for now on a stock truck and then get the rail pressure later or would a fuel pressure suffice? and if so would 100 PSI be enough with a Fass 150 or equivalent?

Fuel pressure first. When you get a programmer that alters the injection pressures then you will want the rail pressure. I'm running a Smarty Jr. stacked with an Edge EZ (Pressure chip). I only run the EZ on level 1, occasionally on 2, but it adds a lot of pressure.

So for now I'd get the fuel pressure gauge to keep tabs on your lift pump until you replace it with a better one. Get the rail pressure gauge later.

I may have confused some people but I was wondering if the fuel pressure would be good enough, or instead of fuel pressure rail pressure. Or for now fuel pressure and then later rail pressure when I get up there in hp numbers.

Fuel pressure first my man......you might be suprised at how low programming can pull fuel pressure dow especially with a stock pump, even aftermarket pumps will get pulled down a couple PSI at W.O.T.(unless u run an eliminator system) but when your running 20+psi it doesn't matter much if it gets pulled down a couple.

I would recommend both gauges though especially at 600hp.

Thanks for the post on this. I was about to jump on getting a Rail pressure gauge, but after reading this I think I should do Fuel pressure instead. For a guy that is running a Jr. with a stock lift pump is this the best idea? Or do I bite the bullet and go for both fuel and rail? I don't plan on going big power other than some 50hp sticks and plan on keeping the truck for a long time. I would say that I commonly run the Jr. on 40hp Lvl.1 I think, or Lvl. 3 and PoD on 65%. Any more suggestions here since my truck has 120K?

100 psi is way more than you will need. I believe that most aftermarket pumps (FASS, Airdog, etc.) run less than 30 psi unless modified by a pressure spring.

Unless you run an eliminator system. which is boost refrenced and adds 1psi fuel pressure for 1psi boost which means if you running 50lbs boost your fuel pressure will also be 50lbs.

I would recommend getting a 60psi gauge that way if you do decide to get an eliminator system you will have a gauge that will read the "high" pressure. And if not you will have one that can read for the fass or air dog if you run a bigger spring kit.

Check out www.wickeddiesels.com for more information about the eliminator fuel system......he use to be a vendor on this site but is not anymore.
