Fleetguard paper filter mod

Has anybody taken a fleetguard paperfilter ( part # AH1136) and replaced the air box and factory square filter and put this filter in its place? I got the part number from a guy at Genos Garage. I think the filter is for the B model Cummins in an industrial application. The guy at Genos said that it is way bigger than the stock filter and some guys have put them in there trucks. I am very leary of the gauze type filters and when I opened up the air box I could not believe how small the factory filter is. Is this a good alternitive? Thanks, Wade

How did you secure it ? Does it have a flange on one end to secure to an intake pipe with a hose clamp? I work in a machine shop and was planning to create a housing for this filter type of filter. What did you do with the sensor and the filterminder? Thanks, Wade

We call those a BHAF (Big Honkin Air Filter). Most people that run one use a BHAF mount that is installed in place of the stock airbox. I have a link for a template that you can use to build your own mount. This will only fit on a 2nd Gen truck, however it will give you an idea of what it looks like. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1

Maybe someone can post a pic of theirs.

these are throw away air filters right?

right now i have a ram air 3 with a cleanable air filter but i'm not really into cleaning air filters. i'd rather toss them out every X miles when it starts to look real dirty.

Yeah, they are throw aways. I know a few people are running BHAF's on 3rd gen's, but I think you need to use a little smaller filter than the 2nd gen ones to make it fit.

Can these filters take direct moisture without falling apart?

You don't wanna let the regular paper ones get too wet. There are marine versions available, but they are usually about twice the money.

I use an Outerwears prefilter on mine. The nylon material does a good job of keeping light moisture off the filter.
