Fleetguard air filter question

Just picked up a Fleetguard air filter from Cummins to use while I'm cleaning my AFE PG7 drop in. Why is the stock mopar filter oiled and the Fleetguard not? It is dry as a bone...is that OK?part #AF26106.

Thanks Jamie

My mopar filters are dry as a bone....my newest two came with a fiberglass mesh pre-filter.

BTW what is Cummins charging for those Fleetgaurd filters?

19 for the filter, plus 5 to have it delivered from orlando to ocala 26 total. it has a green colored foam prefilter 1/4" thick . I just thought they were to be oiled.

WOW! I thought I was losing my mind or had set the filter down in some residual oil. I found the same thing for the first time in 10 plus factory filters. I hope someone else can chime in here. This is the first one that has come out of the box like this.

My last Mopar filter was also dry with the prefilter. No oil at all.

The oil I found on mine looked like very light cooking oil had been brushed on the fiber pre-filter portion. BTW the Fleetgaurds are $12.00 at my local Cummins dealer.

Sherman,
That is where I went. I spoke with DC as well and they also said it should be dry. My stock one was lightly oiled

1/4" prefilter helps to keep the paper folds spaced evenly and to trap larger debree.

I did not know Fleetguard had an air filter for the 3rd gens yet. Could someone post the part#

Jmac, how many miles do you have on your Pro7 to already need a cleaning. I had my Pro7 with Magnum Force intake on for 13,000 miles before I removed it and the filter never needed a cleaning. Just remember, you don't want to overclean your filter.
