Finally Straight

I took my muffler off today and put a straight pipe in its place. Got the kit from Geno's and everything went fairly well. I wish I would have done this mod when I first got my truck 3 yrs ago. First time I ever took a muffler off anything. I can't believe how much that thing weighs.

I followed the instructions to a T and the only thing I would do differently is have some new clamps on stand-by instead of re-using existing. Mine were rusted all to heck and took some time to get off.

Glad to have my truck finally sounding like a truck and my wife says its quieter in the cab now at freeway speeds

Im surprised you were able to reuse the old clamps...mine were so bad, I had to cut them off and use new ones. Straight piping these trucks really makes them sound good.

i actually cut one off and used the hanger clamp that came with kit. i am surprised that nobody has brought this rusted clamp problem to genos attention. hindsight tells me that another two clamps would easily be worth another $15 for the kit. i had been intending to do this for quite some time and had been spraying wd40 on them for weeks hoping to make it easier.

I did step out to a problem this morning, my reused clamp did not bite hard enough causing my tailpipe to roll. I got it lined back and and tightned it the best I could, but I thought I did that yesterday as I could see the pipe pinched. Thinking about putting a self tapper in there to ease my mind.
