Talking FCA mod for low end power & MPG

Well after a couple of months I've been able to finally get an idea if this MOD is worth the time for more MPG.... I know, why BOMB if it's not for the power

Well I use this truck for my side job of small engine repair. It's about the bottom line... well the power's nice too

If you have any hessitation of doing this... Don't! Just do it. The bottom end is great! Low end is so much more reponsive, boost comes on right when you need, (well like a manual trans.).

As for EGTs, with the Rotteck, they were about 50-100* lower depending on the situation. Boost is a little higher, maybe 1-3psi. It was tough to determine since the turbo just lights right away.

As for the increase in mileage.... YEP its there! Since I had a very hard time douplicating similar situtations, I had to base off of keeping the engine shifting at 2000rpms, & keeping track of the what percentage was city mileage to hwy. Then I just compaired similar percentage of city/hwy mpg to similar loads. All of the numbers were based off of filling up at the same fuel pump about the same time of day, adjusting for any fuel additives (WVO/WMO blends+PS) and calculating by hand.

It comes down to that I was able to get about 2 mpg increase under similar situtations as described above.

So how did I modify the FCA....

I followed Relentless' instructions except for extending the triangle all the way through to the end. I just my drummel cutting wheel & the polishing kit.

Just as a side note, the stock FCA seemed like acceleration was a little better at WOT than the Mod'd FCA from a dead stop. But I think that it might be due to either the truck TQ managment defueling or I didn't have enough fuel. But from rolling down the road...

It was tough to quantify the fuel drain since my Quad sending unit seemed to go on the fritz again during this testing.

Sorry about the frown for the thumbnail. But for some reason it will not let me change it.
