FCA Metering Valve Question

Hi all,
I have a FCA that stuck open that I am trying to do some work to. I am curious if anyone who has had there's apart can tell me how tight the clearance on the metering valve was. Mine did not just slide out as the article on relentless diesel suggests. I had to tap my fca on a 2x4 quite a few times to get the metering valve out. It does not just "slide" back in either. It will for about the first mm then it feels more like it needs to be pressed in. I've sanded the valve to avoid burrs or rough edges and as near as I can tell it's perfectly smooth.

The FCA is normally open. takes a pulse width modulating signal from the ECM to close the FCA.

In that case I guess I had an FCA that was stuck closed. Either way, it wasn't functioning correctly.

One thing is for sure....it needs to slide like butter, or you will have problems.
