Fastest 1/8 with 6 speed?
Fastest 1/8 with 6 speed?
Been playing at the track lately and just wondering what kind of times you guys are running. My best 60' is 2.126 at this point starting in second. Will a DD 3rd launch net better times?Overall time of 9.4 at 77.8mph,I know there is much to be improved on( truck and driver).
Have been starting in 2nd,not 3rd. Wanting to know if a DD and 3rd gear launch will improve 60' and 1/8 times? what are some of the times being run by trucks with similar setup as mine?
I definitely need the practice. 2nd revs so quick you dont have time to think. It is real easy to over rev. Seems if 3rd would launch as hard it could easily cut a 1/2sec off. How much slower are the shifts with a DD? Anyone got any idea what kind of times can be had with my mods if I went to a DD?
I think u should be able to get a 9 at least. not possitive. I've only ran once w/o my tires spinning in 3rd and 4th. Thats with my stock tires and 3rd gear launches. I have yet been able to run with my new setup yet. I dont think the shifts are that bad b/c with all that adrenaline u slam them harder than u've ever tried on the street. Banshee starts in 2nd b/c he doesnt think the haisly DD he has will hold up to a 3rd with 35's.

6 speeds dont start to shine until after the 1/8. Your so busy in the first 1/8th trying to shift and not making any boost or real hp/tq until 5th gear sure hurts.
My 1/8 sux but after that its on and pulls like a freight train. I think my speed at the 1/8th was in the low 60's maybe 50's but at the 1/4 I was at 100mph.
Its really hard to improve 1/8th mile times. Your HP doesnt start climbing until 5th gear.
Low load and low boost make for low hp.
That why its best to dyno in 6th.

add a slippin clutch in there and theres no way to get a good 1/8 number ive never even got in the 9s yet i got the power but thats it still havent turned up the ppe to 215/325 yet, no use cant use what i got now , still pulls great on the street though just shift right before it gets to 30 lbs. every gear! it would pull 46+ for a very short while. clutch time.
My brother consistantly runs 9.2 at somewhere around 77 mph, with 1.9-2.0 60, second gear launch. He had a hrad time at the line due to the truck rolling back off the stripe. He as a TST, xzt stack, with stock clutch and turbo.
old smokey that sounds good not familair with tst, what do they adv. hp #s at and i think the xzt is a press. box very sim. to my ez. i cant imagine him doing this on the factory clutch, my d.loader alone excedded the clutch is this tst a hot box. and as to sloverado low 8s ,6 speed ,boosted launch come on the guys with the autos do the b. launches not us, if so what fueling box do you have?
If you feel the need for speed and like to race you'll be lots of money ahead if you trade for an auto. Its not cheep to make a 6 speed quick and takes about 100 extra hp to be on par w/ an auto.
Dual disks take alot of work to drive everyday and you give up alot of driveability. Boosted launche's require is big bad dual disk and can exceed $2,000 after you add it all up. Its also takes alot of tuning and practice ot stage a boosted launch and a 7 second 1/8.
This isnt gonna happen over night and its gonna be really hard on your truck. Some guys get too carried away and regret going that far because their truck had turned in to a beast with poor driving charistics due to all the stuff required to do boosted launches and 7 second 1/8's
With an auto you can have your wife drive a 700hp truck every day with no problems. No jerking, no vibration, no clatter, no lurching, no neck snapping engaugment.
I understand alot of people prefer manuals and that coll, im just letting you know what your in for if you decide to get serious with your 6 speed.
Its gonna cost you
