Question FASS or Walbro????

Im getting ready to update my lift pump, and trying to head off any problems before they start(crappy stock lift pumps). What do you guys recommend I go with? Pros? Cons??? Thanks in advance.

Do yourself a favor and do a search. This has been talked about a lot lately.

I have a Walbro kit. It was a reasonable price, it was easy to install, replacement pumps can be had easily if needed, and Richard is a nice guy that put a lot of experience and thought into the kits.

I just installed the Walbro kit from Glacier Diesel a little over a week ago. I have adequate pressure and flow rate now. Used to run at 6psi and it would drop down to 0 pretty quickly if I had my Xzillaraider on anything but the lowest setting. Now it stays around 17psi and won't drop lower than around 15. It's quieter too.

As was already said, a lot of thought went into putting the kit together. The instructions were very good and well illustrated. The whole install was pretty much a snap.

I can't say anything about the FASS because I don't have any experience with it, but I have nothing but good to say about the Walbro kit that Glacier Diesel puts together.

Walbro

Another vote for Walbro!!! Original lift pump replacement was a electric Carter that I pieced together myself, extremely loud in the cab. Richard has a great kit and done all of shopping for you at a very good price. The Walbro is also very quiet!! If you decide to go with the FASS get the one with the filters rather than the pump alone.

FASS II is about the same money, it's rated for diesel, proven, it comes with a 4 year warranty, customer service is great there too.

Walbro sounds like a good choice though. The kits were not available when I needed one so I went with the FASS II.

There was another thread (I can't find it now) started where someone (suposidly) had called Walbro to find out that the pumps were are trying are not rated for diesel. An an unconfirmed rumor at this point, but that's not a plus.

Personally, I don't like to experiment with stuff on my truck. I like to know there is a proven track record of many years or millions of miles. Fass II gets the nodd from me until we have 3-4 more years on the Walbro set up.

Another vote for Walbro. You can not even hear it.

As for the not rated for diesel, if it were rated for any other kind of fuel, think of how harsh gas is on seals verses diesel which lubes them...

FASS, has some issues, search for FASS/Motors, something like that, they now offer an upgrade to old customers to a newer elctrical motor, but want the old customer to pay $300 for it. Not good in my book, if a motor is on the pump that is not up to par, but your willing to help me out by selling me something else to fix your mistake in the beginning. Not on my dime...

Richard (Glacier Diesel owner) is also a member here, and a great guy to do business with.

Well I can say I origanially wanted the FASS, but after reading this post, I might have to go with the Walbro. Although, I have been looking at their site and dont know which system is good on my truck. GFS-391 or GFS-392? What is the difference? Also what is the difference between the Fass with filters, and the Walbro from Glacier performance wise????

$175 ($195 for the HPFP) after the core is returned. Motor issues are a thing of the past. ALSO the brush issue was fixed by a good cleaning and some sealing with silicone.

Best kit out there.
