Ez Surge- What's Wrong?

I have a surge with the EZ box on #4 and less as I go down on levels. It is mostly at idle and lower RPM's and seems to minimize as the engine gets warmer. Is this normal? If not, what's wrong? Thanks for your help as always.

Mine has done it with the EZ from day one.

I'm not concerned.

Someone on TDR had the same complaint. They sent it back and got a newer version. He said the surge went away with the new box.

I recently had that problem at idle only. I called Edge and they sent me a new one and I have had no problems since. The old box was about 1 year old.....

Are you talking about a surge at idle or when you let off the throttle and the truck continues to "surge" forward?

Pretty much both. At start-up it is really noticable. I have a long driveway and when I go down it in 2nd gear, it surges the whole way. Gets very annoying. It is less noticable once everything is completely warmed up to 180-190 degrees. At this point I only notice it at idle.

For how long can you send back an EZ before they won't exchange it with a new one?

I've been told that the cold surging is due to the heating grids affecting current in the electrical system.

I agree w/ Dave D now that you actually stated the symptoms. Are you sure it isn't just the truck and not the EZ. When it is cold out mine has a slight surge at idle which is normal. It has something to do with the fuel injection. I suggest taking the box off for a couple of days and see if the truck still has the symptoms...The problems I had w/ my EZ only happened when the truck was warmed up........
