exhaust ? exit in front of rear wheel?

Has anyone made there exhaust exit in front of the right rear tire? Right now I have the cat, and the genos muffler delete and I love the sound. If I cut the pipe and angle it out will it WAY TOO loud? If anyone has done this and has a sound clip or video I'd love to sample it! I'd think it'd be about the same sound/volume as a stack? I like the look, and it'd keep all the mud and dirt off my shiny bling bling exhaust tip!

It will make your tire all black from soot. Another problem, although you shouldnt run into it in your climate, is that the heat from the exhaust will cause the brakes to freeze, ford actually had to recall their 87 trucks cause of this

I dont have them yet. Though I am planning on a single 6" turnout pretty soon. Dont want it to be chrome, but might be if I cant find what I want.

why have one when you can have two and look semetrical*(SP). The exhaust in front of the tire sounds great but it sucks cleaning the rim after 20 minutes!

I saw a Duramax stake-bed with a dump exhaust in front of the rear axle. It was a military truck. It was very quiet too.

Morkable, when you say the brakes freeze up do you mean freeze from cold or freeze as in sieze? If it's from the cold how would it do this? I've never heard of this and my curious mind want to know!

Back on the topic, I would definitely put the exhaust behind the tire. You will get a lot of soot on the tire and more on the bedside even if you are a stock truck. But if you're for polishing stuff up more often and you like the look I'd say go for it. Just don't let the soot sit for too long on there or it's tough to get off!

I ran it like that for over a year. The soot wasn't as bad as people made it out to be... for my truck it was just a slight haze after a couple thousand miles. Its raspy no doubt. Its cheap too, and it will cure you of your loud truck obsession! haha

I might do it, but I want to have it so the tip isn't really visible, and it'll be pointed down at about a 45" angle too, so the exhaust should be aimed at the ground. Kind of like 2-strokes, but aimed down a little bit more.....Or I could just use a turndown too.....I'm just worried about the noise. 2-stroke, is it much louder than a normal straight pipe w/cat?

my tire would only stay clean for a few HOURS, after 1 day of driving it would be black and nasty...

there was a truck at BD in oct that had an exhaust dump in front of the axle. the only thing i could think of was the mess when working on the shocks, differential, or the brakes. put on a stack so you can share the mess with those behind you

The filth comes off easy if you spray some type of degreaser on it. I get soot on the lower side of my bed with the exhaust behind the wheel. It's pointed up slightly. It kind looks cool like that and I have it strapped up for support and I didn't want it low to the ground where it could hit if you go off a large curb or off-roading or something.

I reccomend you dont use a turn down. Have it aimed out as much as possible to reduce exhaust build up under the chassis. ITs not that much louder than the muff delete pipe. I had that done too, but I had it more or less gerry rigged, and liked the 45 elbow appraoch better anyway. Good thing about this set up - CHEAP. ITs got some drone, no doubt, but hey it'll get some attention from people. and plus, its slick looking, no pipe hanging out the back with a big chrome go fast tip - its low pro as far as asthetics go!
