exhaust difffernces

sitting here reading my diesel magazine and i got to thinking. why do guys the race have stacks, or s single pipe up the back, or a pipe straght up from the hood or duals out the back or just stock exhaust look.

what are the gains and losses for each one.

The shortest and straightest route the exhaust has to travel the better.

I once had ideas of different exhausts.....only my ideas were put in motion and cost me too much money in the end. It started out with a simple MBRP TB setup that was nice for a while. Then I wanted stacks. Ditched the MBRP and fabbed up the new idea and loved it....for a while. Way too dang loud, so I purchased an FTE resonator and it toned it down considerably but was still relatively loud. Then I tried to stuff a muffler inline for the stacks but the one I bought was too big.

New idea hit me just last week......I've been listening to "loud" since I was 15 and now I just want to listen to the radio! Ditched the stacks and put my 51" Dynaflex on with the MBRP tailpipe.....BINGO!!!!!! That's the perfect setup for me. The FTE piece running right into the Dynaflex and out the backend for a super quiet ride....the wife and kids thanked me right away.

So, to sum it up, most of the exhaust styles are preference only unless you are all out performance tuned and then something along the hood/bed stack might suit you better.
