exhaust brake

i have been reading on here to see what brake is better the pac or the jake and its hard to really figure it out what is favored. i have an 06 with a 6spd. and am very interested, the truck has 10k on it and i tow an excavator and trailler that is about 16,000lbs combined. i was woundering if some 1 could give me the pro's and cons of the 2 and the differences on how they work. and if possible i would like to keep the truck under warrenty. thanks alot

HANER400,

I'm trying to get feedback on the US Gear D-Celerator from someone who has used it. How long have you had yours? Have you had any problems/issues with it? Thanks for any information you can share!

Exhaust Brake

Jacobs is the only one that will keep your warranty that I know of. Go to the Dodge Truck web site and you'll see the one they want us to run.

The PacBrake is much cheaper than the Jacobs brake by about $450 to $500.
On the 06 an addition of the PacBrake will not void your warranty as your ECM is programmed to lock up the torque converter when equipped with an exhaust brake. If I add one, it will be the PacBrake. $750 for the PacBrake vs $1100 from Cummins (even more from a Dodge Dealer!) being the deciding factor.

the pac brake wont affect your warranty, and it is said to be a better unit than the jake,, I am going to go with the pac brake personally after doing alot of research on it

I didnt know that 6 speeds had a torque converter! I have the Jake and I love it. I bought mine on ebay new from a dealer back east for $700. Couldnt be happier!

I have my Pac Brake (have a Jake on my big Peterbilt...) on my 05 4x4 CTD 6spd - love it ! Works seamlessly with the cruise control, slows down my rig which weighs in on a recent trip from South Florida - Arkansas - South Florida @ just under 23K - don't even worry if the trailer brakes have an issue. Heck, I even run it when I'm toolin' around town - love that sound, and it also means that often I don't have to down shift - way cool ! Good luck with either !

Is the Pac Brake PRXB worth the added expense over the standard Pac Brake? And what's the difference between the two?

I have the Jake, had it installed by the dealer before I picked up the truck. I use it all the time, not just when pulling a trailer. It's great, hardly ever use the service brakes to slow down. I did read somewhere on this forum that the Pac holds better when pulling heavy. I only pull 7K so it's good enough for me.
