Most of us turn the programmers and modules down when we tow. The rest of the time the trucks run great no matter what hp you are pushing.

The only exception would be if your injectors are too big for your turbo.

Do you guys think a smarty would be bad for towing heavy??? I could care less about power but the offroad feature and mpg improvements sound nice.

Well, maybe 60 hp low end would be nice!!!!!

if it were me id probably run the following mods...

- intake/exhaust
- valve body/ torque converter (bond to go sooner or later)
- gauges
- smarty (higher numbers)
- xzt (for alittle fun)
- maybe a GDP fuel system

i currently run the xzt and its a fun little chip- adds a mpg or two, boost fooling is cool, wakes the turbo up alittle. its a nice beginner chip. the smarty i suggested just because it gives you room to grow. the tranny mods or for later on when you decide to grow, plus its peace of mind. i didnt recommend any lifts or anything cause i didnt know if thats what you were looking for... however a leveling kit or a small spring kit to level her out would help with body roll/stability as well as a wider tire.

the mods above are good for id say around 400 hp. which isnt bad at all for a dd. now when you get into the higher numbers you require twins, injectors, and other serious mods. its just my feeling that once you start messing with that stuff, the reliability of your truck kinda drops.

Sorry for the late reply.....
My Egts have never been over 1350. Normal driving, they never get over 1100. Maybe its the way I drive it? I've let people borrow this truck numerous times and they said the same thing!???
