with my line vise gripped the wastegate shouldnt open should it? Or what am i exactly accomplishing by the vise grip on air line method? because turbo does build more boost with it on?30-32 compared to 23 PSI but it drops off after 30 ish.

 

Every thread you have started on here the last week keeps pointing to your Edge having a problem and everyone has told you this but you keep trying to chase down some other possibility.You shouldn't need a plug in boost fooler,your air filter is not the problem,your turbo is fine.I don't know what else your looking for,some miraculous cure!Do what everybody has told you and send the Edge in to be checked!You could have got it back by now as long as you have been ignoring all the advice that has been given to you.
You can post a 100 more threads on solutions but the solution has been told to you a 100 times already!

 

wow. turbo not the problem? Why when i pinch off wastegate line my egts are fine then? doesnt make sense to me.Not only that the edge was sent in already. I sent it in for hot unlock and turbo timer and they sent me basically a brand new updated edge box and attitude monitor for my old one. I got a new pyro to. You are telling me that its hooped?

 

Yes with the line crimped the wastegate does not actuate, so it is "capable" of building more boost, buuut the ecm does not want that and defuels the motor. So no fuel=no power= no more boost until it get down to the right parameter that the ecm sees fit. Then it will let you have the fuel back until you go over the limit again, thus causing a spike in boost.

Yes you are building more boost than before, and running lower egts, but you also have less power. EGTs aren't going to get very high with the ecm defueling.

There is a reason for boost foolers, if not Quadzilla would be selling some green vise grips.

I am really trying to help you understand that you are doing more harm than good. This is what forums are for, to help.

 

whats the stock limit. i here some say they get 38 psi boost without any chips (stock)? the next guy says he can only get 35 psi with a chip. Go figure. So you are saying even though my edge boost fools i should get a quad boost fooler as well?

How does my ecm know what my boost is when i have the edge boost fooling it into thinking its lower?So if my attitude says 32 psi boost, doesnt it tell my ecm these only like 25?

 

Thats the first post you have mentioned sending the Edge off already.Look, people on here have stated that they can make 40+ lbs of boost with the Edge, no vice grips being used.I highly doubt your turbo is messed up.Maybe you need to start looking at where the Edge is getting its reading from.Boost fooling is done thru the map sensor.Maybe this would be something to look at,or possibly all your connections.A little di-electric grease on all of them possibly.HAve you had any dtc's thru all this?

 

whats dtcs through this? dealer codes? no codes no lights. truck is absolutely FLAWLESS other than the high egt thing.would a quad boost fooler help? can i stack it with edge?

? take it easy . understand where im coming from. What are DTCS? seriously. and look at this everyone tells me i need to fool my boost and my truck will be ok. Then they tell me that i dont need to vise grip line because MY EDGE BOOST FOOLS. WELL IF MY EDGE BOOST FOOLS THEN WHY DO I NEED A BOOST FOOLER? and if i can stack them ill order one today.a quadzilla one i guess.

 

How much boost can you build with no vice grips and what are your egt's on the different levels?
DTC= diagnostic trouble codes, some will set a check engine light some won't.Your Edge will read them if there are any present I believe.

With edge on level 0-6 and NO VICE GRIPS i get high egts when i step on it. even in town empty. 5 and 6 are the worst but not by much.now matter what level im on i can basically hit 1400 in 5 seconds maybe 7.I can only build 23 psi max this way.Of course all the info im getting is from attitude monitor.

With vise grips it takes some work to get high egts but i still can empty. BUT WAY BETTER. my boost spikes to 30 psi and then drops off. Weird thing is my max boost is set at 40 psi and itll beep alarm and say max boost yet on screen i dont see anything that high unless it goes so fast i cant see? Seems to take a while longer for turbo to wind down as well now.

 

oh yeah and no codes at all. i dont see any. what lights up CEL? or just a light? Should i cycle my key and see if tehre is any? and what they are?

 

A stock 3rd gen will hit 1400 degrees. I think your over paranoid on high egts. I think your juice is having some problems.

 

Do you have excessive black smoke on the lower levels(1 or 2)?So your saying you can see 1400* on level 1?
If your Edge can't check dtc's use your key switch.Cycle it on and off 3 times quickly leaving it turned on the third time and your odometer will show the codes if there are any

 

ok thanks ill do that. also i dont notice much black smoke until level 4-6. I guess i can send edge back but i just got it back 3 weeks ago from them.

I did see 1400 on level 1 and level 0



If theres anything i didnt like about the edge install it was the 3 fuse taps. to me they dont secure real good on the fuse but what else do you do? Also id hate to remove it again and ship it out.
