Actually not really it doesnt do anything with the fuel except burns it

Its exactly what powerken said it heats up your coolant so SORT of like the block heater except this actually circulates your coolant and will hook into your blower to force the warm air inside the cab as well.

It works great for us colder states....Next to the jake brake its the best option on my truck.

I cheated though had the dealer install mine and they did not tap into the fuel tank they T-ed off the fuel line next to the frame. Works great so far 4200 miles.

Do wished I had the seven day timer though.

Ken,
thanks for the note on the exhaust & intake being backwards. Its funny you mention it, cause last night I was layin under the truck listening to the jet engine...& found that out myself. I'll change that this weekend. I don't know what I was thinkin, but oh well. didn't hurt anything yet.

I'm a little dissapointed with how the fuel system. I was at 3/8 of a tank & I guess the return line I am drawing from doesn't come down that far. So, for now, I need to keep the tank topped up. I am proabably going to change that soon. I don't want that friggin thing to not work when I drag the trailer winter camping.

Does anyone have pictures of how they Tee'd into the fuel system elsewhere?

I have only zip tied them together so far but have a bunch of frame clamps that I am going to secure them to the top of the firewall. As for the muffler....I want one. The sound of the jet engine is cool & all, but, like many others here, I have neighbours. The sound of a jet flying thru the neighbourhood at 6am isn't appealing.

Could you let me know who, what where, for that muffler.

Thanks!!

Cool it highway services in BC is where I ordered my Espar and parts.
www.cool-it.ca. They also have stuff listed on ebay frequently.
They have excellent service.

My 04.5 already had a fuel pickup in the tank, all I had to do was remove the cap and connect the line.

The fuel down tube in the tank must be the return line that I tee'd into. What if I use the other one. I am pretty sure that the transfer pump is inside the tank (correct me if I am wrong). Would I be able to draw fuel thru the transfer pump when the truck is not running?...or am I asking for other issues (like drawing fuel back from the engine?

Looking at the truck service manual and comparing it with the espar manual and then looking at a picture of the fuel pump module and your picture, it appears you do indeed have connected to the return line as recomended by espar. I think the supply line connection would create too much restriction or maybe no flow at all with the truck off. The liitle pump in the espar does not have much lift capacity. You can put a seperate suction tube in, but even espar recommends that it be trimmed to only draw down to 1/4 tank. If it runs down to 3/8 I would not be too unhappy with that, it will keep sediment and other cooties out of the unit.

Ken,

Did you install your muffler for the espar yet? I'm interested in putting one on & would like to know how much of a difference it makes.

Matt,

I am waiting for the parts to ship right now, They said that it will be 10+ days as it has to ship from the manufacturer. I also ordered the 7 day timer/diagnostic unit, I find the mini timer a little limited, plus the diagnostic unit will come in handy someday. The big issue is where I will mount the larger timer, and also the muffler as I do not like the thought of drilling on the frame.

ken,

i am also looking at installing either an espar or webasto with the 7-day timer. i found the perfect spot for the timer - in the middle console (my truck is a 2000). there is a compatrment inside which 'should' fit just perfect with some minor cutting & fitment work. another place i thought of was the overhead console, unless of course you use it (i don't use one compartment in mine).

just some suggestions for you, they may be a little un-orthodox, but for me the middle console will work perfect (just lift the lid and set it before exiting the truck). plus it will leave my dash open for any other switches/gauges/modules etc. i get down the road.
