So I pull the smarty off my buddies truck hook it up to mine and it gives me a Error cant read on my truck. (yes i took his back to stock). So the truck is new to me, how do i get it to read my truck. I am going to be putting upgrades on it soon, more than likely a smarty. The truck has 33455 miles on it. mag hitech trans and diff covers just do not now what else is on it. How can i find out what all has been done.

your truck may have a program already on it. this maybe way the smarty is reading error.

 

Well it doesnt feel like it does, it runs like a stock dodge. I had a smarty on the old dodge and only ran it on 3 and this is stock feeling truck. I get no smoke and no real power.

 

what year is your buddies truck? Which Smarty is it? (S-04, S-06)

If it is loaded how do you get red of it. Although it doesnt feel like it.

 

What are the chances the truck has had a reflash from the dealer ??

 

You most likely have to load the latest software from Mads Website to your Smarty. Your truck has a newer flash than what's on your Smarty, when you plug the Smarty in, the current software version will flash across the screen, check it against the latest on the site.

 

It is not my smarty it is his. But I am planning on buying one just want to make sure it works on the new truck.

 

Gotcha, As long as you buy a new one, it will come with the latest software flash from Chrysler, and should "boot" right up.

Just be aware, the Smarty does not really copy your stock ecm software and store it, it will have the latest Chrysler stock flash downloaded to it, which may behave differently than your current version. So when you go back to stock after running Smarty's SW's, it may not be the stock you remember, most people witness a tad more fuel/smoke.
