EGT temperatures
EGT temperatures
Does anyone here know what EGT's should be at Post Turbo. I am running about 650F at high way speeds. i am thinking that is about right. Just curious if anyone knows how high i should let the EGT's get too. I have heard before somewhere around 1000 degrees F.
thanks for the reply, how high is your RPM at 75 mph? i am running right at about 1600 rpm at 75. i have noticed at slower rpm's it runs hotter. any suggestions at what high temperature i should set my LED warning light at?
at 75mph (stock tires) i am running at around 2300 rpms...I am assuming that you have the new 6spd in your truck? if you have the 6.7, your numbers probably won't be the same as mine due to your EGRs and all that regeneration stuff that goes on in your truck that doesn't in mine...on top of that, you have huge tires, and lift and are running the Bully Dog...I would assume that your motor has to run a LITTLE harder at least to turn those Nittos...
very true, i am running the 5.9 also, i am running the lower RPM's cause of the 37" tires and also cause i have 3.73 gears versus you 4.10 gears. i was just curiouse if that was about the Right EGT's by the sound of it i think those temperatures are probably about right. Thank you!!

They are probably a little higher than normal, but nothing to worry about. With 1600 RPM at 75mph you're on the verge of lugging the engine and that will cause the EGT's to go up. Next time you're out cruising at 75mph lock-out the OD and keep the same speed and your EGT's will drop...so will your fuel mileage too though.
