Edge Juice w/ Attitude

I was thinking of getting one, but I was wondering whether or not it stays plugged into your OBDII port. I wanted to get another programmer that needs to stay plugged in (a VOControl for a vegoil conversion), so if i would need to keep the edge juice plugged in at all times, i'd have to go with something like a superchips cortex instead.

The Juice w/Attitude stays connected all the time but doesn't plug into the OBD port.

Is it just he 2006 models that are supposed to be plugged into the port? Unless mine is incorrectly installed it's always plugged in under the dash.

2006 they started to have the OBDII plug in the harness. That's why the 06 and up have more features than the ones for the 05 and back.

It turns out to be a moot point for me. I talked to the guy who makes the VOcontrol unit that I want to get and his unit installs directly through a wiring harness. I do like not having to take up the OBD port with the Edge though so that the dealer could attach there if I take it in for work (not sure if they'll still honor the warranty with the Edge on though, but i'll ask them on Thursday when I take it in to fix some TSB's)

It's just the Attitude that stays plugged in to the obd port. To do a scan or anything, you just unplug it and use the scanner, then plug it back in and your good to go!

That's a good point . . . as that's what I do with my Smarty. I just have the Edge JA hooked up for the use of gauges until I can get stand alone gauges installed.

Is that all that the OBD connector is for is the gauges on the attitude monitor? I would think the safety's need it to work effectively also. Has anyone tried disconnecting it on there 06?

One time when I left the dealer after having some work done on the truck, I Noticed that some of the peramaters on the attitude monitor weren't working. When I looked into it, I saw that it was unplugged from the obd port. I plugged it back in and all was good! As I recall, it didn't affect driveability at all.
