EDGE or BULLYDOG?????
what transmission do you have? i was told that the nv5600 6-speed can handle a lot more power than the autos. i am not saying i want to run the edge on the highest setting all of the time, but every once in a while, i would like to open things up a little. how long did it take you to install the juice and attitude? is there any other parts i need to buy for installation? thanks for helping me out with this.
I'd run the TST R-49 if I wanted the gauge factor... I can control rail pressure like a MP-8 timing and duration and have the gauges too. I have the TST guages along with the analog gauges and there both really close to one another.... I know it's not edge or bully dog, but I have the 305/555 engine and know how well it works with mine....
bare with me i am VERY NEW to the diesel world so i dont know what a lot of the acronyms are. what is a TS r-49 and mp-8? thanks for your patience! i have been on this site for hours on end every night trying to soak up knowledge. with a little luck i hope to be up there with you seasoned pro's. give me some time and i will pick up the lingo......thanks again
here you can do a lil research yourself. I love mine, but is a tad bit over the 800 dollar range, but have loved mine... Everyone thats dynoing crazy numbers run one stacked with a SMARTY...http://www.tstproducts.com/powermaxcrwithr49.aspx
Install of the juice is quite simple, you are plugging into the wiring system of your truck, Edge has easy to follow directions on their web site. Only thing to worry about is the drilling for the pyro, but you can do that also. The turbo timer can be purchased as an upgrade for the juice I believe it comes with the newer models, cost was an additional $50. I ran mine on level 3 and level 2 for towing, and had zero problems with the tranny. You just have to be smart about it, cranking it up to level 5 and doing boosted launches will roast your truck in no time. Another note, if you outgrow the power of the edge you can send your unit back in for the "hot unlock", ups the power levels quite a bit. If cash is tight the Edge is hard to beat for gauges and power, but if I was starting again and had the flow, the Smarty POD with gauge pillar would be the only route for our trucks.
FWIW I've got the Edge JA and Smarty . . . they are both very nice products. From what it sounds like to me, you'd be really well served to go with the Edge Juice w/ Attitude monitor (and turbo/cool down timer). I ran my Edge for a little over a year before I wanted to do something different. I generally ran the Edge on 1, 2 or 3, but only once or twice over 3. Now I run the Smarty on 2 and Edge on 1 or 2 and the performance is much better than it was with just the Edge JA alone. Both are very nice products, though.

Took me about 2 hours - because I started with a poor quality tap for threading the pyrometer in the exhaust manifold. The rest of the install was pretty easy. My neighbor did his in about 45 minutes.
Because I wanted to mount it above my mirror, I ended up buying an overhead mount and an attitude extension cable. It's pretty clean looking, you wouldn't even know it's there from the outside.
